Just had the dealer on the phone trying to book me in for a 12 month service, I questioned that I thought it was 24 months service. She said they had it down as 9000 miles or 12 months.

I said that's fine, book it in, then she said, let me get you a price. I said I though that servicing was included when I bought the car, and she said I hadn't purchased a care package?

I wasn't offered a care package when I bought the car, just assumed a new car would come with a few years free servicing?

Did I need to have bought something extra to have service costs included?

I think you are correct that it is 24 months although the car will determine when a service is required. The remaining time to service is displayed on the screen. Volvo do sell care packages which include regular service costs although these are an additional cost. The dealer should be able to advise but as they don’t seem to be that sure maybe try another dealer?

I am sure when I bought mine in the UK, the first service (18,000 miles - 24 month?) was included in the purchase price. Not as an optional extra plan but as part of the vehicle purchase contract.

Thanks both, just heard back from Volvo UK customer service and they say that service plan for first 3 years is included at no extra cost. Service interval is 24 months or 18000 miles.

So that's one free service for low mileage drivers

Pretty poor that your dealer doesn't know that.....

Mine is in tomorrow. It flagged up "Book service" at about 17500 miles. I phoned and booked and then it stopped displaying the message (so I assume it knows I booked?). Then displayed nothing until yesterday at exactly 18650 miles it started displaying "service overdue". It would appear that this is exactly 30,000 km. So I would assume that the official service interval is actual 18650 miles (not 18,000 which is what we are being told in the UK).

Here is the info from Volvo :
https://www.volvocars.com/uk/support/ca ... 870d1a409/

and it says :
Your car's service and warranty information1 contains more details about maintenance service and warranty terms and conditions.
1This is a separate publication included with your car.

I'll have to check if I received this "publication" . It does not ring a bell, but since there was no manual with the car...

Picked up mine at the end of January in the UK and was also told that servicing for the 1st 3 years was included at a schedule of 18,000 miles or 2 years, whichever comes first

Mine has just been serviced for free in the UK. I also found out about the difference between OTA updates and dealer updates - will post in another thread.
