Hi Everyone,
I have been driving my car since late June last year...yesterday when I went to drive the car, it asked me to unlock my profile via a PIN...I have never seen this before, luckily, I remembered (eventually) the code. The car was happy with this and unlocked my profile and for the rest of the day it did not ask me again. However, this morning...12+hrs since I last drove the car, it again asked for the PIN to unlock my profile. My profile is the "main/owner profile" the other profile loaded into the car is my wife's, when we selected this profile, it did not ask for a PIN. Does anybody know how to stop it asking for PIN to unlock my profile? I have not made any changes to the app or the settings in the car. However, a new version of the app 1.7.4 downloaded (the night before). On the App under the person icon (far RHS), there is an Apps Setting that supposedly controls Security, Units and about, when you click this- one of the options is Security Lock On/Off that controls - "User authentication for sensitive functions and settings" - this switch was turned ON, I have now turned it Off...not sure if this is the thing controlling the profile lock or what it was set to before the app upgrade. My car is software release 1.4.2

Hi iHansz, Thanks for you post, very much appreciated! So, I immediately went to try this, what found was that the to access the profile was not available on my screen! Also interestingly...it did not ask me to unlock my profile this morning 12+hours since i last used the car. I suspect a reboot may be required...but i may just live with it until the next OTA comes along...
Many thanks!
Many thanks!

Problem solved!
The issue with the car asking for the profile lock was resolved, mainly by disabling the profile lock option which was strange as I had not enabled it in the first place (or so I thought). However, while looking at apps in the google play store I found Google Crome, so I thought great idea to have browser. The installation was a little more involved than usual, but it does suggest a lock on the browser, it may actually have been default, anyway if go ahead with this feature it will lock your profile, and you need to enter your PIN every time you get in the car... I have since removed google Crome (not because of the lock issue it just bored me... ).

Yes, I fell for this one too.
The reasoning of Volvo/Google is simple:
If an owner(or driver) lends their car to anyone else - or even leaves a friend sitting in the owners car while they do a message, if profile lock is not enabled, then that person can access all the owner's Google information, browsing records, website favourites, internet ordering, and possibly even purchase things on the owners/drivers account. They can also select other users profiles from the menu and do the same for them too.
Therefore profile lock has to be activated by default.
