Ignore the nay sayers on YouTube get this car.
@Geoff: I thought again and looked through the manual, but I think your Collision Avoidance System is broken. Has your dealer already checked that? Maybe it needs to be recalibrated. And maybe you can manage this: https://www.volvocars.com/uk/support/ca ... 870d1a409/

Unfortunately these days car dealers are very reliant on the computer diagnostic system they happen to be using. Volvo aren’t the only ones guilty of this. If their system doesn’t report a fault you are likely to get some blank looks or a some vague nonsense about software updates.
There isn’t really an easy answer, being persistent with the dealer is the only way. Not so easy if they are a distance away.

I don’t have the option of early or late for the forward collision warnings. I have a choice of short, medium or long, I have it on long.iHansz wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 8:12 pm @Geoff: I thought again and looked through the manual, but I think your Collision Avoidance System is broken. Today the car has behaved impeccably, it unlocked as I walked towards it and the only alert was at a roundabout when it told me there was a car approaching – the one I was looking at. Tomorrow it could be different.

Hmm, too bad. There's definitely something wrong with your car. Would Volvo demand to fix this.Geoff wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 4:22 pm

Does "long" mean it looks a long way away and reacts early (needlessly)?
What happens if you select "short"? Maybe then it would improve if it only reacted to things really close to the car and didn't see anything further away.

Are you sure you're in the right menu? I think that 'short, medium and long' are the options for the 'Time interval to vehicle ahead' for the cruise control, and not the colision avoidance, which is in another submenu.Geoff wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 4:22 pmI don’t have the option of early or late for the forward collision warnings. You’re right I had to delve a bit deeper into the settings. The forward collision warning was set on late and now it’s medium. Logic suggests that the alarm will be even earlier but this car defies logic so I’ll see what happens.ex30bap wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2025 9:45 amAre you sure you're in the right menu? It refused to unlock yesterday until I swiped the fob on the door frame and pulled on the handle, today it refused completely and I had to use the app to get into the car.

Car has great mechanicals. Absolutely awful software. Nothing is intuitive, all kinds of alarms and distractions you can't turn off. Often the doors won't lock or unlock, or do lock, when you don't want them to, like when you're standing in the rain. They need a major software updated. I also have an XC 40 which is great, so I don't know why the software on the EX 30 is so bad.
