I’ve fitted it on the front and back to see if it would do the job. Yes it works perfectly well. I drove 5 miles on the front and the back with some stops and starts. Initially the car sends multiple warnings and turns off all the enhanced braking system but the car stills drives perfectly apart from one pedal isn’t available. As soon as the original 19 inch wheel goes back on the car reset all the enhanced braking features again automatically. Nice to know I’ve got the spare available now as well as the inflator kit. Twos better than one.

Just purchased 18 inch space saver wheel it actually fits into the area in the boot below the main loading area which is a massive bonus. Prefer a spare tyre to gunk and an inflator. Cost £200 with jack and tool kit.

And there's the rub - I did the same to my Tesla.
Driving for 40 years and no punctures. In the last 12 months I have had two!!! Couldn't make it up.
1st puncture was en route to airport for holiday. I changed it in 15 minutes in layby and continued to airport.
2nd one was travelling back at night to home from down south. Side wall was damaged by puncture.
I pulled over and changed it.
Without a spare - the holiday wouldn't have gone ahead. And the return home scenario - would have left us stranded for hours while we waited initially for the flat loader and then finding a tyre depot open at nearly midnight while having a new tyre fitted because the old one couldn't be repaired.
Does that answer your question as to why bother with a spare?

Because it’s the RAC or AA they use and on the last whip I had they took 3 hours to arrive and it wasn’t a balmy warm day and I wasn’t near anything like a Maccies it was the middle of nowhere so it wasn't a great experience. That was my Vauxhall Mokka E. If I’d had a spare I’d of been on my way in ten minutes or less. Not doing any of that again over a
flatty …….
Just received a space saver wheel from ‘The Wheel Shop’ and I find it’s too big to fit in the lower boot compartment! To be fair the website declares that it won’t fit in the boot - so I was warned - but now it’s in the rear passenger footwell - so not ideal!Donny Simm wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2025 10:40 amThe Wheel Shop on tinternet just fill in 3 boxes and ya done.![]()
It was very close to fitting in - about an inch too big - so I suppose I could partially or fully deflate it - but it would be better to have a spare ready to fit!

Thanks for the warning - it is quite a tight fit ( I’m surprised how little room there is for rear seat passengers legs!) But I will put the wheel behind the passenger front seat and move the seat back until it ‘locks’ the wheel in place

I got an 18 inch space saver wheel from them and it fitted even with the bag on it. It’s very tight indeed but it defo is in the lower part of my boot area. It did need to put it in at an angle and push back the vertical back of the boot about 10mm or so but it gives very easily and doesn’t crease or anything. Snug but defo a fit.BS60 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 4:45 pmJust received a space saver wheel from ‘The Wheel Shop’ and I find it’s too big to fit in the lower boot compartment!
