Digital key seems to be coming soon

My hunch is that they are internally testing digital key in the 1.5/1.5.1 updates, and it will roll out publicly in a 1.5.2 update. Reasoning - 1.4 was rather minor, yet the 1.4.1 update that came soon after included CarPlay.

Which is testing?
Digital key or digital key plus?
Because the simple digital key isn't more useful than the key card...

Except of course that many of us don't have a digital key plus compatible phone - so the basic digital key is all we can use anyway. And it would save us from having to carry a separate key fob or key card in addition to our phone.

I hope not, but the digital key (NFC) might have the same stupid limitation of the other key fob and key card, therefore one EX30 account couldn't probably pair with more than one key (fob, card or digital).

If this limitation exists and having the account already paired with a key, creating another account for the same user to possibly pair and use a second digital key is not a solution in my opinion, as the second EX30 account couldn't use the same Google account, and for example Youtube Music doesn't even allow to select a different Google account in the app, so one couldn't share his own music and playlists between his 2 EX30 accounts.

Moreover, for security reasons personally I'd carry the key card with me even if the digital key is on my phone, and that being so in my opinion using the key card is still more comfortable than the phone.

Anyway, this is another reason why Android Auto is needed for the Android smartphone users... in this way the EX30 account in use doesn't matter...

Conversely, having the possibility to use a digital key plus is another story...

A workround might be that you just need to use any 'key' to get into the car, then change profiles to the one you want after you get in.

At presrnt my wife uses the fob and I use a card. Many times the car unlocks as we walk together towards the car and adjusts to her (fob) profile. Then after I squeeze into the drivers seat, it is a simple press on the screen to change profiles to mine, and seat, mirrors and everything else changes to recognise me as the driver on my profile.

We are lucky as our driving position is the same. I’m hoping that as one ‘key’ is in the car it won’t lock itself as I’m locking the house and my partner is in the car with the kids.

I just found this PDF with digital key instructions, it looks like the AAOS from a Ex90. Not sure but I think this is a great advance. I think they will use the same way for a Ex30.

Reading the EX90 specs, there is only a digital key available that actually is an EX30 digital key plus equivalent. So it works remotely.
No NFC only digital key. And moreover the EX90 digital key isn't named Plus.

Isn't that just splitting hairs over the name.

Volvo may release one app and call it "Volvo Digital Key" or something similar. The customer does not have to choose which app suits their phone. They just download the app, and if the phone has UWB it will work from a distance (ie - digital key plus) and if it doesn't it will work as a NFC card (ie - digital key).
