I can completely agree with your sentiments having been in the same situation. I took delivery of my Mini Cooper SE in May and loved it - being a great little car and that was the problem. My mistake, we needed four doors and a bigger boot.

Unfortunately when we came to part exchange for the Volvo there was a safety recall on the mini and they couldn’t take it. Mini acknowledged the problem and took it back to a showroom full of mini electric cars that they couldn’t deliver.

Now I am completely happy with my EX30 and glad to say I don’t get any of the niggles that seem to occur to owners on the forum.

My only issues are minor;

Why do I have to turn the radio on when I get in the car when it doesn’t turn off until it locks when I get out of the car.

The heated steering wheel comes automatically on every cold morning when I get in the car. I would rather be able to turn on when I want like the heated seats.

The automatic function can be switched off in the settings.

Volvo just can't please everyone.

I am glad that I have to switch the radio on if I want to listen to it. I do not want it coming on when I unlock the car and then have to switch it off because my wife left it on.

But my wife wants it on, and she doesn't complain about having to press one button to do so. And she likes it that she doesn't have to press a button to switch it off.

The auto heated steering wheel in the Volvo comes on if the temperature is below 10 degC (I believe). I have just switched it back on in my EX30.

The heated steering wheel also comes on automatically in the Mini along with the heated driver’s seat. These can also be turned off in the settings. The key difference here vs the Volvo is that you can adjust the level of auto heating of the wheel and the seats independently in the settings from off to full on and several steps in between.
