The instability of the app has NOTHING to do with Vodafone or coverage or an outage so please stop repeating that as a cause.
The app and the car’s software is just very poor and unstable. Like with many other things about the software about this car.
Which is why the same issues are affecting people from all over the country and other countries and whether the car is inside or outside etc.
And then it is back working again as normal as if nothing has happened. More likely an issue with the car’s electronic setup or Volvo servers at HQ.
The more I am reading on here and experiencing the more I am becoming unsettled about owning this car. As long as it does not break down or worse then I hope the constant software updates and patches should eventually work and improve the car. But I very much doubt it. Have never owned a car where so many functions sometimes work and at other times don’t ! Quite minor things so far which are annoying but the more it happens those annoyances becomes major issues as it should simply not be like this! And the ownership proposition takes a nosedive.

However I have as much right to hold my opinion and to express that opinion as you do.
My version of the app on my phone works fine as long as both the car and my phone have signal. Yes, for some reason every time I use the app it never connects first time - every time I open it, it doesn't connect and I have to close it and reopen it - then it works perfectly.
The climate pre-conditioning system is slow to switch on, but always does. The changing of the required charge level setting always works. If I need to lock the car that works to. I can see the current state of charge and range ( and it agrees with that shown in the car ).
Maybe I would have liked more functionality which would have made the app more useful, but it works as it is designed to on my phone and with my car very well - except when Vodafone had no signal to my car or my phone had no signal to the internet.
I appreciate others may have a different experience, but that is mine.

App was working fine until yesterday, now I cannot connect to the car via the app. Uninstalled the app, rebooted the car software, made no difference, the car's internet access is working fine, it looks like a trip to the dealership, unless anyone knows a solution. Also I set the car to charge last night, didn't charge and yet Ohme app and car set up seemed okay, very frustrating.

Have you tried the Apple Watch app. This seems to work better than the phone app as I think it uses the standard Volvo car app rather than the specific ex30 one. No idea why but it seems to connect first time rather than needing the app to be shut down and restarted.

In my experience with the app, apart from the fact that it may lack more or less functionalities, I only see two flaws: That on the first attempt it seems like sending a kind of "ping" so that the car's connectivity "wakes up" and on the second It already connects, as long as there is connectivity (something that I think could be solved with a "Connect" type button within the app itself without having to exit the app and re-enter) and the disturbing messages it gives when the coverage fails: "the car is in use", "the windows are open". Although the latter has not been done for a couple of months.
That doesn't mean that I would like it to have some more functions such as charging power, the function of preventing overheating of the cabin... the digital key

Update on the phone app. This morning the app started working, however once again the car didn't charge overnight. When I refreshed the app it recognised that the cable was connected and commenced charging. This begs the question, does the car need the phone app to be working to charge, despite the fact that the car software was set up to charge, but failed to do so.
I only really use Ohme app to cross check things.
I usually just plug it in. And check smart meter to see if it's charging at 7kw
That was the only way I knew that it wasn't when the car was twinned linked with Ohme,s app.
SO
Disconnected it untwinned/unlinked it and told it.
Then re connected the car to the charger.
Bingo charging right away.
When linked and using Ohme app charging times periods, schedules etc were all over the place according to Ohme and octopus availability of abundant reverently or wind power.

I’ve only got app 1.6.3
But appreciating the frustration that despite having CarPlay (which is good despite needing to reconnect via Bluetooth settings every time before I set off) we still don’t have digital phone key and as a result I’ve sent an official complaint to my lease company under sale of goods act requesting the car is returned as not sold as per advertised features.
Shame as it can be a good car, I love the pace in AWD but cold weather range is really poor despite the heat pump and at £46,000 there are now much better alternatives.

I've had driver not detected for the last couple of days - seems to me to be when I've got the right arm at the 12 o'clock position on the wheel blocking the sensor.
