I too have noticed the car heating working much better since the temperature dropped. I suspect you are right that the car detects lower air temperature and then takes action.

I have also noticed a bigger battery drain and dramatic reduction in efficiency.

Weird is about right. I find it requires a good deal of experimentation. Coldest day so far around these part - 8*C-ish but a frost earlier... main part of car warm, feet cold. I'm finding it's a nuisance having to delve into the screen to select 'recirculate' - something, in my experience you usually need quickly. Had a horribly smelly ICE vehicle in front of me yesterday and then came upon a well-established car fire so needed it twice in quick succession.

As an aside, when do you have to have the b***s to actually refuse to drive past a vehicle fire? This was on a bendy, hilly road. We were held up for ages on approach but unable to see the problem or any smoke until we rounded a corner and traffic on our side was queuing to get past a full involved large car (not an EV!) with no fire and rescue presence. I guess we were all anxious to get on and get home - and a lot of us in the queue had only just got out of another long hold up further back. But, really, it wasn't all that wise to be driving close to this burning vehicle. I guess an off-duty police officer or firefighter would have got on and done the sensible thing, but we just ploughed on. In fairness, I probably would not have done had I had a grandchild in the car.

I have tried virtually every setting possible and the only appreciable difference is the fan makes more or less noise and modulates fast and slow in quick succession. The steering wheel and seat heaters (an extra cost option for the Ultra spec car in France) work well but my wife doesn’t like a hot bottom and has resorted to using a blanket and wearing gloves. It’s like motoring 50 years ago.

Reading the last post, I’ve realised I haven’t tried recirculate, maybe that is the answer.

It's a shame that one or two observations by forumites get lost. One of my favourite quotes (and near quotes) was from someone who said that the EX30 has a heating system 'in name only'! Love it! And spot on!

OMG

Just had this.Blowing cold on 24 and 20 aircon on and set to auto medium [I did have it on low until I read this thread.] All the windows misted up inside like the aircon failed.

Hope it gets better.

Just wondering if the guys that are experiencing the issues own the core version or above? I own a core and experience the same issue. I dont know if the issue is existing for different versions?

I was out this morning (about 2 C) in Ultra ,had heat set to 25 C on windscreen and feet , and side windows fogged up not long after setting off. 20 minutes later at end of journey they were still fogged up ! I suppose I could drive with all windows open to improve visibility?😄

We have not noticed any real problems with the climate control. Generally just leave it in auto. Maximum fan speed at either medium or high depending on what season we are in. We do use the heated seats and wheel a fair bit although not much more than other cars when we have had it. Heated wheel is a first for us and is very nice. Seeing all the criticism I carried out an unscientific experiment. Car set to 24 and all in auto max fan at high. Car had done a couple of short journeys into town so doors open a few times. OAT 4C. The temperature sensor I had was showing 23.2C varying a few tenths depending where it was. Surprisingly consistent and close enough to target given that neither sensors are calibrated as such. The heating does feel different as a ASHP does not produce the 90C flow temperature that a ICE system typically does. Saying that the climate in the Volvo seems to maintain setpoint reasonably. We haven’t experienced misting up either and demist in the morning is good especially if we remember to pre condition. Do miss a heated screen but that’s another thing all together.
