Disappointed to hear some others having the same issue with CarPlay. Have fed back this to the dealer who called this evening with a follow up “Are we happy with the car”.
We love the driving of the car.
We also keep the fob in a RFID blocker box and have done so for years as our past few EVs have all had keyless entry.
And today the APP is not working! It just says “Car in Use” at the top but no information about the car is given. That was working well yesterday! Losing a bit of confidence in the car at this stage as no rhyme or reason why things work perfectly well one day and not at all the next.
Apple CarPlay. More than 1 car user.
It sounds like you haven’t yet experienced the phantom braking and steering or any of the odd warnings for no reason that the car will do from time to time, the side mirrors have an orange light that illuminate when there is a car passing and often when there is nothing nearby. The so-called driver aids for lane keeping etc only work in certain conditions and if you happen to drive from a road with perfect markings to one without the system reacts when you don’t expect it to. And turning them off, if it is even possible, is a challenge requiring scrolling through screens and menus.MarkyMark wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 8:05 pm Disappointed to hear some others having the same issue with CarPlay. On a 3-hour drive yesterday I had the auto braking twice and for the first time, an odd unwanted acceleration after the car had been parked, a stab on the brakes stopped it but when this car has a mind of its own it is unpleasant to say the least. Several times the orange lights in the mirrors came on with a warning on the screen that disappeared too quickly to read.

Not experienced the phantom braking issue as yet. I know Tesla's are famous for that. Keep us posted as it is things like these on this forum that will allow us customers to collate information all the while Volvo will tell us that they have never heard of such issues. And the list seems to be growing. Not nice to know that as owners we are "beta testers" while they gradually improve things via software updates. Funny how car reviews never mention these issues.
As most of them fear not being invited on the next press jolly in some warm climate country where they are wined and dined!
In terms of odd screen warning while parked in our local supermarket, it would warn me about passing cars, in case I was planning to exit my parking bay, which is fair enough. I was not reverse parked so it was not the "Rear Cross Traffic Alert" warning. But it correlated with passing cars across the nose of the EX30. However it started giving off warnings when there was no movement of cars outside the car.
The app is back working normally today! So able to see battery/range and the ability to see that the car is locked etc. Would not rely on the app in your hour of need, as it seems quite flaky. Hopefully will settle down over time.

On the right roads under the right conditions the EX30 is a pleasure to drive, unfortunately most of my driving is on roads and conditions that don’t suit the car and on fairly narrow roads with poor road markings it can be a chore.
For me Apple Car Play, or lack of, is the least of the numerous issues the EX30 has but it and a digital key are all that people seem to want for the car to be perfect. I’m amazed at what some people are prepared to accept as normal. The heating and ventilation for instance; it’s supposed to have climate control and for me that means you set the temperature and the car sorts out whether to heat or cool to maintain a constant temperature. But apparently, it’s normal to need to wear an overcoat in the car and manually adjust the fan speed and temperature.
The app seems to work most of the time but I only look at it occasionally to check when charging has finished and to check the tyre pressures. Once I noticed it said the car was in use when it wasn’t. And frequently it thinks the car is somewhere other than where it is – usually 500 metres away in the village cemetery.

The climate system is working very well in our car. That would have been a deal breaker if was not. It is mainly my wife's car and she always feels the cold, but this car heats up and stays warm very quickly indeed and the auto heating steering wheel she loves. Handy, just as we are entering a cold snap.
But will keep an eye on things. I am soon learning that things we like and work well, may not work well all of a sudden!
Like having the radio turn on as we are used to when entering the car, first thing. You have to bring up the radio screen and press "Play". I am not sure who designs these things or makes the final design decisions but they are certainly not drivers.

Geoff, you mentioned unwanted acceleration after being parked, that was stopped by a stab on the brakes.
This sounds like when you went to move off you have accidently activated ACC by pulling down on the right hand stalk twice for D. This will activate ACC, and as the car was doing less than 20mph the ACC defaults to 20, and the car imnediately tries to accelerate to 20. A stab on the brakes will then cancel ACC and calm is restored.
This may not be your problem, but I have done it several times.

In that situation, and if you are parked behind another car, the EX30's emergency braking system/collision avoidance would come in to play by applying the brakes itself? I would certainly hope so!

I had just driven off and after a few metres the car accelerated and I had to brake, I wasn’t behind another car but I was in a town (on market day) with pedestrians at the side of the road. It is possible that I inadvertently pressed twice on the right stalk but if I did and accidentally engaged ACC I’m surprised that the car accelerated. On every other car I’ve had with cruise control if I’d tried to engage it below the minimum speed nothing would happen. If SP1959 is correct when you do it in the EX30 it will accelerate to the minimum speed, and as you know the EX30 accelerates fairly rapidly.
Hopefully I will never need to rely on the EX30's emergency braking system/collision avoidance to avoid an accident, I have zero confidence that it would do so. And I have little to no confidence in any of the EX30’s so called driver aids, pilot assist, lane change assist, lane keeping, parking assist etc.
