I don't know if this topic has already been discussed, I tried to check but it seems not.
With the arrival of autumn, low light situations on rainy or foggy days are becoming increasingly frequent. In Italy, as I guess in other countries, it is compulsory to keep them on at all times on motorways and roads outside towns/cities.
The headlights setting by default is on AUTO and if I change it, my choice is not saved for the next time I use the car.
The biggest problem, though, is that with the AUTO option, the headlights only come on when it's dark enough and not on rainy or foggy days, with very poor light.
It would be nice to be able to set/adjust the threshold at which the headlights turn on, like for example for the automatic windscreen wiper.

I think we are out of luck on having an adjustment. Looks like it is just a manual override that’s available.

Hi Brenon, I agree with you. I understand the DRL's on the EX30 are brighter than a lot of other vehicles, but I have had to change the Headlight setting from Auto to ON several times already due to heavy rain and it is shame that the car is clever enough to identify these conditions and that extra light is required to increase visibility for other road users...

Why can't the headlights come ON after the windscreen wipers have been 'active' for a period of time (as is the case on most VAG vehicles).
Not a pleasant experience trying to quickly switch headlights on while keeping the vehicle straight during a deluge!!!
I have asked this of Volvo but no response....

Why, indeed! With this, as with so many issues, it is almost as if Volvo are completely unaware of what has become the norm with many other marques. I did rehearse this point about the need for headlights to come on after the wipers have been on for a short while but other members didn't agree.Tivver500 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 7:16 pm Why can't the headlights come ON after the windscreen wipers have been 'active' for a period of time (as is the case on most VAG vehicles).

What about the mandatory DRLs since 2011 in Europe?

Just checked: during the day, in beautiful sunshine, all headlights are switched off (AUTO mode)

To be on the safe side, I did the check with the car stopped, but still running. I got out and checked.
Now I want to check with the car in motion (I'll have to be very quick getting out and back in )
