One other thing i only noticed because I rarely use the car, it's my wife's car and I just can't stand the many many issues with it so I drive it as infrequently as possible. Consequently, I mainly use the key card and not the tag when i'm driving it. When i get in the car i have to place the key card on the wireless charging panel area for the car to operate/drive. However, if the key card is left there then a message repeatedly flashes up on the screen saying that i need to move the key card. Pressing 'dismiss' removes the message for a few seconds and then it flashes up again blocking the rest of the screen until it is pressed again. Surely if the key card has to be placed in that area then it should be able to remain there without any warnings flashing up.

Not a massive issue but just one extra thing that is annoying and something that really shouldn't happen (and doesn't happen with other cars). And this is the least of the issues I have with the key card and it's complete lack of usable functionality (e.g. having to physically lock the car on the drivers side only and not being able to open other doors with it)

Another issue: You cannot fold mirrors while reversing. Even the current long-way menu is not available. I think that this option should be available in the short key programming on the steering wheel. It would be very comfortable for people like me whose garage is narrow and mirrors should be folded while parking backwards.

We don’t use the cards but I think you can take the card off the charging/detector pad once you are underway. Saying that the whole locking/unlocking system seems to be a real faff. I’m hoping that the digital Id system will be better when (if) it gets rolled out.

Does Admin @Rob exist? I sent a PM to him a few days ago but no reply, it hasn’t even been looked at.

That's exactly my point. Having to put the card in that exact specific spot in the first place is annoying. All other keyless cars i've had just allow me to have the card on my person inside the car. But then, after having to meticulously place the card in the exact right place because the car wont budge if the card isn't detected, you then have to move the card when the car gets moving otherwise it flashes up warnings on the screen repeatedly that the card is on the wireless charger!! The design of this car really is like a 3 year old has been let loose

Hopefully the digital id system will make things better.

Another area for improvement is the reverse direction screen: it's locked to the camera views and no commands are possible.
When reversing I often realize that I have OPD enabled (that is unconfortable for making precise car movements), but there is no way to disable it unless I go back to P...:(

I never experienced that OPD is uncomfortable for making precise car movements

A couple of things from my point of view.

The manual and advertising says that the car (not your phone in that car) is capable of 5G connection, I have never seen this to be true, it always connects 4G or LTE (which is 4G) this in my opinion is a fault. I live in Brisbane Australia in an area that has 5G from all service providers. Volvo Australia have been silent on this issue.

CarPlay is definitely faulty, it’s easy enough to get it to work, but the car does not “release the wireless (wi-fi) connection to the host phone when the car locks. It also does not release the Bluetooth connection. After, about 2 mins both the wi-fi and the Bluetooth are released. This just sloppy programming.

Further if you manually force a connection to your home wi-if while the car is holding onto the wi-fi connection, the next time you get into the car CarPlay will not launch.

In addition, any changes to your phone, like a software update, turn off/on wi-fi (even when it is not connected to the car) will terminate the CarPlay connection.

While CarPlay is on the car the orange phone button does not work and calls need to be made from the AppleCarply app, which is ok if you have fiddled around and launched CarPlay before you drive off. However if you don’t launch CarPlay you cannot make or receive phone calls in the car. This again is sloppy programming. The orange phone button should invoke the CarPlay phone function.

So to say CarPlay is available is technically correct, but an enormous failure in ability to use. It’s just really poor system integration and a failure of unit and system testing.

Hope this helps

I prefer OPD for fine adjustments. I have no problem moving the car at 1mph to the exact spot you want it.

I find its really just the same. You control the car by very fine for pressure on the accelerator (OPD forward) to make the car creep at the desired speed, or very fine for pressure on the brake (OPD reverse and 2PD) to slow &control speed of the automatic creep.

As long a you can control your foot pressure accurately I think they are both as accurate as each other.

I guess it's horses for courses.

However, accurate reversing would be much easier if the mirrors would lower. In some cases I find that the only way to protect the rear wheel rims from scuffing is, after selecting reverse, touch the camera screen to deselect the rear camera and select the side camera and watch the wheels near the kerb on that csmera (it takes a bit of getting used to the angles and distances). And unfortunately it changes camera if you engage forward again - and if you need a second cut, it defaults to the rear camera and you have to reselect the side camera again. It would be so much better with auto lowering rear mirrors (a simple software ) tweak.
