The update installed last night for me and this morning I'm driving using ACC without Steering Assist as usual without having changed anything in the settings, then the speed limit kept changing on its own. Often the car started braking out of nowhere because it keeps reading signs wrong. Can someone please tell me how to turn it off for good and just go back to manual switching of speeds just using the buttons on the steering wheel like before? The only slider I find in Driver Setting is to set it to Speed Limiter, which I read you need to hold down the accelerator pedal all the time, it just doesn't allow speeding.

Thanks for the reply! I found out through reddit that certain people had this feature on by default on their first drive post-update and the option to turn it off didn't exist in the settings. That was my issue too. They said that it's turned off again the next time you use the car and the button will also appear, and sure enough that's what happened in my case as well. Weird bug.

I know this doesn’t seem to be working very well for some people - but for me this new adjusted speed limit has been working flawlessly - and yesterday even saved me a fine!

I had not been paying attention and had been doing 50mph going into a 30mph zone with an average speed check in place

I only twigged about a minute or two down the road and thought oh no, I forgot to slow down! And I looked at the Speedo and I was already down to 30mph due to the ACC adjusting down

I’ve found the speed limit changes to be very reliable in the midlands here in the uk and I travel to north London a fair bit and it hasn’t missed a sign (that I have noticed).

Have to say this is one of best improvements yet - esp as it’s saved me some points and a fine lol!

Here in France the town/village name panel is a 50kph limit, the car never ‘sees’ the sign, it only sees 30kph, 70kph or whatever signs and never the derestricted signs. Consequently, you can be doing 80kph in a 50kph limit, or 50kph in an 80kph limit. It also sees limits that are not there at all. In France the adjust to speed limit is useless.

Here, in Spain the recognition is really bad. The hit rate is approximately 50%. It is not usable.

I tried it here in Switzerland and it could be used, but you have to watch it closely. Some situations I encountered.

1) on a "long term" roadwork street who has been at 60kmh for months, they finished it recently and put it at 80kmh again. With no road signs the ACC sets 60kmh on multiple occasions. (You have to watch out not being rear ended for breaking suddenly for no reason)

2) on highway where the exit has lower speed limit it picks up the signs and slows down. From 120kmh to 80/60kmh depending the signs. (Again you have to take over)

3) In the middle of town in 50kmh he decided I was on the highway in the tunnels below based on GPS and set 120kmh. (Not ideal speed for the road so I stopped it from accelerating)

4) when ACC doesn't recognise a higher speed limit sign (from 100kmh to 120kmh) on highway, still shows 100kmh on display and you set it to 120kmh manually, it doesn't set it to 100kmh in the next 100kmh zone because it thinks you choose to travel faster and ignores it. (I have to test if I can reproduce it.

In the UK I have found quite a number of incorrect speed limits. A check on Google Maps on my phone showed that Google Maps contained the same errors that the car was showing. (Some of these errors were for shows limits that don't even exist in UK law.)

I have also noted that some long-term temporary speed limits in place for long term road works were not removed by Google Maps when the road works were eventually completed.

I have no experience of tunnels, but have certainly found errors on some speed limits shown for road going under some bridges (this does not occur on motorways though), where the car (and Google Maps) shoes the speed limit for the road on top of the bridge, not the road under it.

When you read the Volvo manual, every section includes the warning that it is the driver's responsibility to ensure the car is used correctly and lawfully.

Clearly if you are using this system it should only be used as a help, not as an auto-pilot. (Let's face it, Volvo call it "driver assist" not "self driving" like some car manufactures might refer to. )

My previous XC40 navigation system (Sensus) was a lot smarter: if needed on the display are shown 2 speed limits: the first is taken from the map data, the second indicates the speed limit read by the camera.
It was a lot better, particularly in case of short road works in progress!!
