I have never used the app. For each of the 3 OTA updates I have had, the car notified me as I parked it at the end of a journey that the update was ready and then I did it from the screen.

On each occasion I noticed a message in the app notifications that an update was ready - but on each occasion only after I had already done it in the car.

ON THE POINT OF UPDATES:

I received this from Volvo Customer Care:

We are aware of this and seems to be a known issue with the app, and the vehicle having a discrepancy with Automatic Software Updates, as well as the update freezing or not completing in one sitting.
Currently, there is no solution for this other than waiting for the car to update, or for you to take the vehicle to your local retailer where they are able to manually deploy the software for you if this does not complete within a few days. The latest OTA update (1.4.2) should begin download within 3-4 weeks after release and this will be deployed to your vehicle in due course. There is nothing further needed to be actioned on your end at this point.

so not very pretty really !!

As for cruise control I beg to differ

The last 5 cars I had all used short press for 1mph and long for 5 including my first electric

We all like things our way, in this case you like yours the way you were used to, and I like them the way they are

My EX30 is still not showing 1.4.2 software so it is booked into the dealership

I really hope that some of the insanity disappears with 1.4.3 described as removing bugs

I still have not got a list of settings that are key profile dependent - a situation I find quite incredible

I searched the car screen manual for how to OTA update.
It says you can only authorise OTA updates in the App.
The App only shows 1.4 Software updates disabled.

So magically, having locked myself in the car, using the App, it suddenly changed the App to show software updates enabled.
I definitely did not manually change the setting - there did not seem to be an option to so do.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
And now twice I have been crusing along with cabin temp set at 21C
Outside temp 15 C
Car elects to turn on A/C for no apparent reason - gotta be a software problem

That and losing the cabin temp settings is a definite bug

The perspective of someone who has never owned a car with cruise control. Me. At first it seemed to me that the most obvious thing to do was: one touch = one km. But when I started using it in practice, I personally found one touch = 5km much more practical. Why? When I'm on the road, before activating the Pilot, I'm close to the maximum speed...85..88..93... then I hit the AutoPilot and then with a single touch it rounds me up to the maximum speed=90. Same on the highway.

On the other hand, The advantage of it being a quick single touch = one km would only be to adjust the odometer offset to the actual maximum speed, but that's already a lot of fine-tuning.(123kmh speedmeter=120kmh real)

In fact, it is absolutely simple for each user to be able to modify these settings by software to suit their taste, but it is clear that the subject of customization is not contemplated in this software.

My car came with 1.4 installed and 1.4.2 was an OTA update without any problems, the car announced that it was available and it would take 29mins, the app only showed it after it was installed. The app has always had automatic software downloads enabled but there is still no sign of 1.4.3, I don’t receive notifications and I wouldn’t know that it was imminent without this forum.

I always have A/C on and with climate control I expect the car to heat or cool to the temperature I set. Every other car I have had with climate control has done so but not the EX30 – it just blows hot or cold and the temperature goes up and down. Apparently, the temperature is measures in several points around the cabin and takes into consideration sunlight but it still doesn’t work very well. Incidentally the app seems to be stuck on 23.4C as the temperature in the car.

I find the climate control works pretty well with the oat that we have had so far. We got it in spring so mostly cooling duty. Feels comfortable and the pre conditioning works really well on hot days. The comfort set point for us is 24 and have only tweaked this a couple of times. Can certainly hear and feel the air distribution moving around which can be quite concentrated if the maximum fan speed is set to high. I usually just move the vent that I can feel a bit or reduce the max fan speed settings if the noise is bothering me. I think I have only done this once. Now the cooler mornings are here the pre heat is coming in handy. Heated seats are very effective and have a back pad too which is nice. Heated steering wheel has now gone on the must haves for future cars, it is lovely!

I collected our car in July and the A/C has cooled the car in 35C heat very well but with climate control I expected it to warm the air to the set point when the temperature dropped. The EX30 seems to do this by blowing warm and cool rather than a constant temperature that I’m used to in all the other cars I’ve had with climate control. And I always seem to be in a draft, I don’t think having to manually adjust the fan speed and vents is acceptable, it should be automatic.

Pre-conditioning on hot days I assume means turning the A/C on from the app? That works okay and Volvo should be congratulated that something does actually work as it should.

My wife drove the car a couple of days go when it was cool, the heated steering wheel came on but she didn’t have a co-driver to work out how to turn it off and she ended up putting gloves on to avoid burning her hands. I’ve since found a setting that should stop the heater coming on automatically but in my opinion the wheel heater should come on if the car interior is cold, not the exterior. And why is the wheel heater automatic but not the seat heaters?
