I second that!

Out of interest, for this and all software updates for, does anyone have any info or heard any rumours on how the 'car decides' when to update.

We know:
1) It'll happen within 3 weeks of release
2) When the car is locked
3) Charge is >40%.
4) 5G signal

I wonder if there are other things factored in, for instance does the car have some basic machine learning that let's say, your usage pattern shows you never drive between 2pm and 5pm, so it'll update between those hours. Or perhaps it does it simply does it in the dead of night?

I imagine the timespan of three weeks is to the ease or distribute download demand on the Volvo update server. But I'd love to know how this works - are we all in an unpublished cyber queue? How would that be ordered? By serial/VIN number, or by the order of people allowing automatic updates?

Does this come with cyanide pills or do you have to buy them separately? Terrible

Can I just ask a Newbie question regarding updates? What is the first indication you get that your car is lined up to receive one? Mine was updated to 1.4 before I collected it on Wednesday and I came home to read that 1.4.2 had been released. How will I know when I am to receive it? (PS - sorry - I realise now that I ought to have read some of what others have written!)

I'm assuming you're referring to the CarPlay images?

Do you own an iPhone? Whether you do or don't own an iPhone, if you don't like CarPlay, don't use it ;) How do you rate Apple products, generally out of interest?

I have an iPhone and an iPad and consider Apple products to be good quality. However, I have never used CarPlay and don’t know what it is, but the screen shots look like a child has been let loose with some colourful crayons. And the Satnav screen is half the normal size.
What I would find useful is for one of the virtual buttons to open the glove box, open the boot etc could be used to turn on the fog lights.

Hi
I have had my ultra twin for six months. Ihave had two OTA updates. The first indication that I had was a small cloud icon in the info bar. ( The line of icons that includes the signal strength). This is the car downloading the update.
Once the update is fully downloaded the car will ask if you want to install the update. Installing the update took about 20 mins and you cant use the car while install is underway.
You can schedule the update to a later, more conveniant time if you wish.

Only the overview was shown in the screenshots. When you swipe, the respective apps get the whole screen. You can also change the color - more subtle, gray or black and white.
This is how it works with all other CarPlay versions, it would be interesting to see if Volvo also supports the EV mode, then AppleCarPlay also does the charging plan. However, I currently find the CharingingTime app quite good. It only shows the charging stations on the planned route, with a corresponding filter for the charging point.

I’m still struggling to understand what CarPlay does that the car doesn’t already do but I suppose I won’t be forced to use it and if it makes (quite) a few people happy… Good to know it can be toned down to be more grown up.
