If I was asked 2-3 months ago, the answer would have been no. However, things have settled down in the car now and I now rarely see any problems. The display sometimes appears to be rebooting itself as I'm getting into the car, and it also goes half into dark mode sometimes. I've lost LTE signal (and therefore working navigation) a couple of times, but only for a minute or two.

The car is an absolute joy to drive and really comfortable on long journeys. I now deliberately plan around visiting Tesla Superchargers if I can as they are so fast and much cheaper than most others we've used. Now the car's done around 3000 miles, I think I'd be able to get around 250-270 miles from a charge (100% down to around 15%) but I tend to charge it to 80-90% most of the time and not let it drop below around 25% if I can. We are mostly charging at home on a Zappi charger and overnight at 7p or via excess on our solar.

I wouldn't change anything on the car/spec we bought. The Single Motor and Extended Range was the right choice for us. My only wish is for Apple CarPlay eventually.

Graham, I never realised the Single
Motor Extended Range was available in Ultra trim.
Still I’m not sure an EX30 really suits the term extended range for a real world 250-270. When new in summer you might get that but (and I don’t know if you have one) but you will need the heat pump for anything like 200 in British winter! Over 3 years your battery will also lose 20% range. Really the extended range should have a bigger battery. That’s why I think the long range model 3 is way better value than the EX30.

I mean, it’s extended range in comparison to the standard range car ;)

That may have been the case ten years ago but more recent batteries have been much better in this respect.

I had an irritating day with the car last Friday with the now named 'Volvo Black Screen of Death', but overall the software problems seem to have calmed down...🤔

In relation to batteries, they last much longer now. Many are now lasting 100,000 - 150,000 miles with only a few % degradation

In accordance to EU regs, Volvo offer a battery warranty. If your battery has degraded by more than 20% within 8 years (100,000 miles) you are entitled to a new battery fitted free of charge.

If your battery has degraded 20% in 3 years, you will probably get a new one for free in 3.5 years.

Good to hear this SP1959, auto journalists/ the media need to stop scare mongering regarding battery degradation and vehicle depreciation...This might have been true in early EV's but times are changing...

The media scaremonger everything.

When trains were invented and replaced stagecoaches, the press said everybody would die as they went too fast.

When cars were invented, they were a rich man's fad that was too dangerous to survive...

The media exist to sell stories. False scare stories with lurid headlines are easier to write and sell than good, truthful, well balanced reporting.

And everyone knows - if its on the internet, or in print, it has to be true.

I was testing both, the Model Y and the EX30. I didn't consider the Model 3 because of the type of car it is. I don't like classic sedans and even less the low and sharp lines. Regarding the Model Y, I liked almost everything, except the aesthetics and the somewhat excessive size for me and my garage room. I like it more than the Model 3 but the Teslas still seem like bland cars to me, even so the very complete equipment, the interior finishes, the comfort, etc. were really good. In the end, among many doubts, I bought the EX30 and I love it. Surely I would have liked to use the Model Y as well, but I opted for the Volvo and I don't regret it. It has things that could be improved, most of them are minor software issues(bad Internet connection and rare but existent bugs with phone connection, the continous Spotify log outs(arghhh) not so good , not very good distribution of elements on the screen, a lot of space for some sections and little for others. Greater features of Google Assistant and Android Auto, sometimes uncomfortable bugs and I think most of them are attributable to Google, although it has some conceptual flaws that are Volvo's, such as the excessively small font size, or the lack of more RAM (I'm afraid) . The small rear doors and in general the whole rear space is small, but it is something that does not affect me too much. I find it a delight to drive, extraordinarily easy, smooth, responsive, agile...almost perfect. In my opinion, I think that the dual motor improves its behavior by balancing the weight in the front. I am used to front-wheel drive or 4x4 and I feel that cars with "all rear" are more delicate to drive on winding roads if you push them hard. You have the sensation that it floats slightly. They are the compensation of excellent comfort very much in line with Volvo.

Would I buy it again? Without a doubt, although perhaps I would buy the "dangerous" twin-engine version. I don't see any other car that I would like to have more right now...except an old FJ cruiser. I love it.

I believe it has the heat pump in the spec I have. I just got slightly under 250 miles out of it on a run. Started with 100% and arrived with just under 20% at a Tesla Supercharger. I don't expect to do as well in the UK winter and it was certainly doing less in early April this year, soon after I got it. But a range of around 200 in the winter will still work for me.
