Yes, I love the car and would buy it again.
I intend to keep it for years, so the rapid early depreciation isn't an issue for me.
Would you still buy it

We would recommend although ours is leased through a company scheme. Two caveats that are common to all ev’s really in my opinion.
1. Be able to charge at home.
2. Have a second car available that has a conventional engine.
Obviously everyone’s circumstances are different but our are pretty common. Both of us work so we need two cars and we have two primary school age kids.

What stops you from ordering the inventory model online?
Volvo EX30 Twin Motor Performance Ultra
Yes, I am quite happy with the car. I got mine just around the time when 1.4 was released so I did not experience many bugs (except for the Internet in the Car that stopped working twice). I was apprehensive about the back seats, but we did short trips with 3 teens at the back and no complaints. I am very happy to have moved to an EV. I can charge with the sun at home and for free at a nearby mall (also using solar power).
In South Africa we are not really spoilt for choice when it comes to EV selection unless you want to buy a big SUV from BMW or Audi. So I am extremely happy about the size and the price that I've paid for it. The one downside in South Africa is the lack of tow bar due to the tow bar harness (i.e. the electrical wiring) being missing from the South African models (same issue affecting the Australian customers).
I will keep it for a while I think, and I am looking forward to seeing how it handles longer road trips.

Having had a Tesla model 3, replaced with the EX30 ultra and a Kia EV9 on order, you can tell I really like electric performance vehicles.
That said, if it wasn’t for company car ‘salary sacrifice’ I would never ‘buy one’ with my own money.
To lease is fine, but the residuals and fact that the battery loses performance over time. On a 3 year lease this is someone else’s problem!!
If I had my time again would I order an EX30 ultra? I ordered in November 2023 before the Highland model 3 was released and way before EV3 etc so at the time I’m pleased, through having to wait 10 months for delivery of a vehicle that doesn’t have basic functions like digital phone key and CarPlay is annoying. Yes the straight line pace and 22kwh home charging is a upgrade on the Tesla, but the model 3 has also had quality of life upgrades and the long range can do an extra 100miles on a charge for an extra £5k rrp (or £50 a month on lease).
In hindsight if the model 3 highland was available at the time I would have gone again. I like the Volvo but the Tesla is more practical with bigger boot and frunk and can easily seat 5 for a long journey. Hence the Volvo is the new runaround and the EV9 will be the soccer mom!

I can't order an inventory model as the car is motorbility car and only a certain number are allocated to that scheme. Test drove a cupra born again and no where near the quality . Comfort and performance as the Ex30. Got delivery down to december so maybe just wait
Definitely. I love the car. I have not particularly suffered with the software issues that others have reported. I have had a couple of hardware issues that were disappointing but they were quickly fixed without question by the dealership. Overall, very happy.
