I have only used ACP with a friend's phone in his car, back in 2022, and it didn't offer anything that Android Auto doesn't offer. Yes, just like Android Auto allows you to use messaging functions, which Android Auto allows but not Android Automotive in Volvo... my question comes because I get the impression that the future integration of ACP or A A may not be complete and Volvo may restrict the use of certain applications and functions that may be distracting. I also hope and wish that Android Auto is included and that it reads my messages or I can send them using only my voice, but otherwise, the interface it had in 2022 seemed a bit outdated to me, full of bright colors, and everything a bit cluttered. I also don't know how Android (Google) is going to integrate Siri on its own OS. ACP has normally been integrated on "dumber" or more neutral OS. But this is ultimately trying to run an Apple OS on an Android system. It's like mixing apples and oranges. If it works out well, they deserve a medal, but I'm afraid it will always be better to use A. Automotive's own than ACP. Although I can't give an opinion beyond what I experienced briefly and what I read in Reddit-type opinions and so on.
I don't think you'll like this, but I love Apple products both hardware and software. I'll always buy and use Apple because I find them to be more in tune with me, so having Apple CarPlay ported to my car will be lovely and ultimately (for me) less distracting for Sat Nav, Music etc. Particularly Music - I am an Apple Music customer and I certainly don't wish to port my library of 4000 songs to, let's say Spotify. I have a life to live!

In addition, applying the logic you describe:

Should every Waze user ditch Waze in favour of Google Maps?
Should every Spotify user ditch Spotify in favour of Android Music?

Let's just use what we like - it's personal preference, we're all different and it's good to have more choice :)

The question was sincere. I like to know about what I don't know from those who do. I'm not trying to tell anyone what is better or worse. I know what is best for me and I suppose everyone else knows it too, and I like to hear or read their points of view on things I don't know, just to have more objective information, beyond each person's philias and phobias. . The taste is in the variety.

Thanks for your response. Music is a factor that would be very important for me as well.

I don’t like the Google and Android integration at all! When it comes to privacy and security nothing beats the Apple ecosystem. I enjoyed the software including Carplay, of my previous XC40, made it work wireless with a Car2play adapter. Can’t wait to have it available in my EX30.

Hey Harald

@tombarnes has beaten me to it with the Apple Music which I also have loads of playlists and am not just going to ditch it all for the sake of Google.

Let me point out two other major items for me using ACP:

1. HomeKit.
For those in the know, it can offer a lot through CarPlay in terms of programatic actions on compatible devices, for me- it allows me to have one touch buttons to open and close my two garage doors on the car display!

2. Audible
I regularly listen to audio books in the car and the android version of this app is clunky and doesn’t load half the time. Apple has the luxury of syncing between your phone to get meta data I assume to preload this sort of stuff (as opposed to Android eco system having to fetch OTA).

Some other apps not available via Android but can be added on CarPlay:
- Podcasts
- PayStay
- Wilson Car Parking

So I guess it’s what ppl are looking for specifically that will determine preference. Hope that helps shed some more light.

Regards
Alex

Totally clear Alex. Thanks for your feedback. I think there are some things that I would also miss if I had to use an Apple Car ecosystem, and that I miss a bit in Android Automotive too (even being Android user). The use of automated routines or automatic modes from Samsung(automated.launch of apps ot.modes or configurations when...), and the main problem is that Android Automotive is not Android OS, and lacks 90% of the applications or functions that Android has (the ones from mobile phones) but nevertheless, except for me, nobody seems to demand that in addition to Apple Car Play, the functionality of Android Auto should also be included, since you have greater integration with the personalized settings of your mobile. Android Automotive is fine, but it is very restrictive. I reiterate my thanks to everyone for your feedback.
