Timed charging in EX30 software
Hi friends can you help with my query. Currently my car is set to charge to 80% by a set time using the Ohme Pro Charger software. I want to charge the car in a given time window so it only downloads from the grid (and not my solar batteries) at the 7p per kilowatt hour rate. Can this be achieved in the car software rather than being set up on the Ohme Pro Charger software. Thanks in advance of your most helpful replies.

I also use the OHME Pro for timed night-time off-peak charging.
In the 'Charging' screen in the 'Settings' menu on the EX30 there is an option (right at the bottom of the screen) to select what times you want to charge the car between. If it works it is good. However there may be 2 issues:
1. Some users have experienced problems with the car's clock randomly changing to the wrong time (which will cause the car to charge at the wrong time) - this appears to be a Vodaphone not a Volvo issue.
2. Some users (including me) have been effected by a charging timer software bug. It worked OK in April with software1.2 but the upgrade to software 1.3.1 broke it. Volvo is aware of the issue and it will apparently be fixed in a future update. (1.4 did not resolve it). As a result effected users cannot use the car's timer.
However there is an easy solution on the OHME app. It sounds like you are trying to use OHME's rather complicated 'Dynamic Charging' (I used to).
Make sure that your tariff is correctly entered in the 'My Tariff' section on the 'Settings' menu (I had to do mine manually).
Then go to the 'Charging' page of the app. Use the slider to set 'Dynamic Charging' to off. (The app should now show "Charge to full" and "Ready as soon as possible".)
Then set the price cap to just over your off-peak rate. ie - if your off peak rate is 7p set it to 7.1p.
The car should now only charge during your off-peak hours. When it is plugged in it will show "Charging delayed until [off-peak start time] and then start charging at that time. It will keep charging until thr end of the off-peak time or the limit you have set in the car (90%, 100%, custom), whichever comes first.
Hope this helps.

Doesn't Ohme on Intelligent Octopus always charge at off peak rates whatever time of the day? At least this is how it works for me. I do not have a solar (yet) so do not know how the two systems interact or if that makes a difference to the off peak triggers.

I decided that a smart EX30 charger and a smart Ohme charger was too much. I have now killed all Ohme schedules, disabled the Ohme app and manually set Ohme to max charge when required. I use the EX30 panel to set my off peak charging times and initiate the charging. The Ohme is now a DUMB charger. Keep it simple!!

That's OK if the EX30 timer works.
If itdoesn't, or if you don't trust it to, using OHME with dynamic charging off turns the charget into a dumb charger that only charges in the programmed time range.
Either way, I suspect you should always only have one system working - the car or the charger.

Thanks so much for the informative replies...I am going to look at your solution SP1959 as I don't want to have any doubts regarding the integrity of the charging times. I do appreciate all the replies.

Hi eden1
Just to let you know.
My car is currently at 13% (after a 190 mile fast drive from 100%) and should charge at my cheap rate from 0200 to 0900.
The OHME screen says charging is delayed until 0202, and that it should add 63%, which should bring me up to 76% when it stops at 0900 tomorrow. (I have found that OHME's target charges are not always very accurate estimates.) Then on Sunday night/Monday morning it should bring it back up to its normal 90%.

An update on my update.
For that particular charge setting, the OHME charger had estimated it would add 63% in the 7 hours from 0200 to 0900. It actually added 65% (46.9 kWh at an average speed of 6.7 kW).

Take out as many variables as you can
I agree about taking out the variables.
Volvo's faulty charging timer and unreliable clock issues were 2 variables I removed by not using Volvo's timer software.
OHME's dynamic charging was another variable I removed by switching it off too.
My car now charges perfectly with OHME's non-dynamic timed charging, full power charging every night 0200-0900 (user adjustable) without any chance of failure.
Of course I could dump all OHME's capabilities, go compketely dumb and get up at 0200 every night to plug the car in. That would really be dumb....
