Radio turns off when braking. Help please

Just wanted to share some potentially good news regarding the radio volume issue during braking. I received an email from my Volvo dealer yesterday, and they've been officially informed that the problem can be resolved by replacing the center brake light. I'm scheduled for the replacement next week.
It seems this is now an official fix, at least here in Switzerland.

looking at previous comments, there is an interference from the wiring of the light to the antenna. i suspect that the new centre brake light console will have additional/better shielding.

Ok, i guess that fix is only for the dab/fm problem, because my volume issue happens in all sources, not only radio.

Thanks for passing on the info. Having read the above, I contacted my dealer. They have the same information and my car is now scheduled for the replacement on Friday.

My radio fading problem got solved with update 1.5.2

Since 1.5.2 update my radio still fades when the brake lights are on.

The problems with EMC are unlikely to get resolved through software tweaks. Ideally the source of the interference (the brake light circuit) should be modified to stop it swamping the DAB signals in weaker reception areas. They could fit a higher gain aerial but either way I think some hardware needs to be replaced to sort this one.
I have seen a couple of posts where users have reported this being done so maybe Volvo do have a fix. Might be worth dropping your dealer a line to see if they are interested.

I can confirm there is a fix for this issue and dealers are aware.

My dealer replaced the high level brake light a few weeks back and the issue has been solved. The dealer said this is a known issue and a replacement light is the agreed solution from Volvo.

Thought I'd update my own posting. I just got back from the dealer, the rear brake light has been replaced and it has NOT fixed the problem. As soon as the brake light is on, the DAB radio is muted (unless its a very strong signal like Radio 2 or Radio 4). So, the hardware change has made no difference for me and the software at level 1.5.2 hasn't changed anything either. The dealer is puzzled as they've done exactly as Volvo instructed in order to fix the problem. They've now sent this information back to Volvo Technical - awaiting a reply from them, and then they will contact me again.
