Dashcam
I have just received the Fitcamx for the EX30 and will be tackling installing it today. In the box there is a USB stick but I can't see what it is for. Can anyone help please? The instructions don't mention it and I can't see how or where it would be connected to the actual unit itself anywhere. I can only assume it would be for enabling a laptop to connect to the dashcam to retrieve footage. But i'm not certain and would appreciate any clarification before in install it. If that is the purpose then that makes sense however I will be connecting a phone to the dashcam so unlikely to have any need for it. Any help gratefully received as one installed I could do without having to dismantle it again to fit a missing usb stick.
I wonder if there is a helpline or information on the FItCamX website, sorry to state the obvious??? Good luck with your installation...
I assume you have watched this short installation video...Looks quite a simple process...

The USB adapter is for transferring images directly from the dashcam micro USB card to a PC, tablet, etc.
Images can also be downloaded via the Fitcamx app, but this method is quicker and more direct.

Thankyou. Appreciate the response and as suspected it is to connect to a laptop. I have just installed the Fitcamx to the EX30 and it couldn't be easier. Unclipped the existing plastic trim which thanks to previous posts gave me the confidence to give it a good tug to release it and came away no problem. Then was a simple job of plugging in the green loom and then pushing the new unit on. Just been for a test drive and got excellent, clear images recorded. Initial impressions are very good and i'm now ordering one for our other Mercedes EV
I have a surplus Blackvue Power Magic Pro battery protector for sale £35.00 including postage to your door. This will work with any dash cam and shuts off power if the 12V battery is getting low. See the below instructions for the details.

Hi
I’m looking at fitting my BlackVue via the OBD port as I have in my ipace. The ipace OBD stays live all the time but have had no problems with draining the battery. Are you finding it ok with the EX30 plugged into the OBD port?

Volvo released an own dashcam and an installation manual.

Personally I think there are better priced dashcams (even more, if you ask your Volvo dealer to do the installation with everything that has to come off to mount it), but the manual could be interesting to install other dashcams.

It is not (yet?) approved for the EX30 and dealers will not fit it to the EX30.
2024 EX30 Ultra - single motor - extended range - Onyx Black (UK)
The installation manual ist new as far as I know and is for the 2025 EX30 (second link). I don't know why a Volvo dealer wouldn't fit it if there is a Volvo installation manual.
First link is only to a shop and I wouldn't consider it not approved if the EX30 is not yet mentioned in the title. It is listed on the Volvo homepage as accessories for the EX30 CC (https://accessories.volvocars.com/fr-ch ... 25?lang=en)
