Where do we stand with insurance claims/incidents if there is no GPS, and therefore no date/time/location stamp?
Only recently, my OH had to use his dashcam footage to prove the driver in front reversed into him.

From a legal point of view, GPS is useful but not important. The evidence is what the video shows happening (including pictues of registation numbers, vehicle details, road position, drivers description etc), not the actual location.
On the other hand date and time are more important, but this should not be dependant on a GPS position, but being set in advance in the camera settings.

But if date and time aren't coming from GPS, these values might be wrong and should be checked every time before start driving...

But to get this functionality the Fitcamx should have an RTC (real time clock), and a backup battery to keep the RTC running when the car power is off... and I suspect this is not the case....
The timedate could be synchronized with the phone when connected to the phone wifi, but what when not reconnected after a new car power off?

Not sure if I should have started a new thread, but I’ve just installed my trusty Thinkware dashcam that I was using in my previous car.
I had a cigarette lighter (guess it’s called Accessory now) in that car so rather than go into the fuse box I thought I’d use the OBD port.
My initial testing seems to indicate that the camera stays on and records all the time.
I’ve tried parking mode on and off and that makes no difference.
I did notice that the recordings might be stopping after 30 minutes - I’m testing that theory now.
I did also note on a separate posting that the car stays in an “ON” state when charging- which it currently is.
Anyone come across this before?
Still very new to the EV world and still struggling to grasp when the car is ON or OFF

AS an aside to your last comment...my hubby dropped me off at the hairdresser on Thursday, having driven me there, his first time of driving. He was waiting for me outside, parked up. 5 minutes into my appointment came a text message, "How do you turn this car off!!".....the joy of being married to a petrol head!NitramA wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 3:11 pm Not sure if I should have started a new thread, but I’ve just installed my trusty Thinkware dashcam that I was using in my previous car.

Thank you for this installation video. For some reason mine is showing a small gap in the front. I demounted & mounted it multiple times. Nothing is broken. Perhaps I'm the perfectionist here, but is this normal?
