Thank god it doesn't
Couldn't handle one more button to push before driving to disable a default eco setting.
If you want the car to be more efficient, be more gentle on the throttle and drive smoother.
Eco modes make sense on ICE cars, they are irrelevant in electric cars.
Is there an Eco setting to maximise range?
you're wrong.MO1 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 10, 2025 1:03 pm Driving gently won’t maximise range as much as dedicated settings and technology will. As per my example, where I was driving gently and using a dedicated setting, a setting which massively increases constant regen, it increasesd range hugely. In my example it was by 50 miles on a journey of 250 miles. Way way more then just “driving gently”. And yes it is a massive oversight. Just because other Volvos don’t have such settings doesn’t make it superfluous. It just makes it yet another thing the EX30 doesn’t have or does very badly.
eco mode is irrelevant, it would only limit the power as we already have an eco setting for the AC, one pedal drive is irrelevant (even worse in certain cases) because the car regens under manual braking anyway. increased regen (aka more engine brake) also irrelevant for the same reason.
i get better range with opd off compared to when it's on
Hahahahahaha. Tell me you’ve never driven a decent EV that does have an eco setting without telling me you’ve never driven a decent EV that does have an eco setting!
The eco setting on a decent EV 100% does work and very well. I’ve had 2 past EVs to prove it and as per my original post I’ve seen significant mileage increases as a result.
I’m not wedded to the EX30 like many others and fortunately rarely need to drive it as it is a joke of a car. It definitely would benefit from an eco setting that does what it’s supposed to do. For example yesterday my wife wanted to drive a long journey and minimise the need to stop and charge. In my Mercedes that would be possible. Driving ‘gently’ is something she does anyway. But it doesn’t maximise range in the same way as meaningful technology does on a properly executed EV. And as I can prove with first hand facts and experience.
Anyway, I’ve answered my question. The EX30 doesn’t have this feature. Obviously it doesn’t. Why would it. It can’t even do basics right.

After understanding the principle of an eletric motor and how it operates on the ex30, you'll understand how an eco mode wil be a gimmick.MO1 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 7:41 am Hahahahahaha. Everything that could be saved on the engine / regeneration wise, you can reproduce with your feet, and the eco assist as you have on mercedes (which i've tried in the eqe) can be reproduced by your awareness of traffic and road signs. Makes driving a bit more relaxed but does nothing on the mechanical efficiency.
The best ECO mode without pressing any button..... Warm weather in the UK
I've been struggling to get above 210 miles/100% charge since getting the car in Feb. Last nights full charge shows 268 miles/100% charge after 150 motorway miles yesterday at 50 ~ 70Mph, temp was ~ 18C.
The Mini EV has 5 modes including ECO and ECO+, neither ECO modes make much difference over the Standard Mode range. ~ 100 Miles
The single pedal regen breaking on the Mini is the best bit, does not improve range but it is fun to use. My EX30 single pedal regen by comparison can be scary, it just has no linearity and I can't judge it at all. I think my car is broken in so many areas of operation. It must have something major wrong with its CPU's or sensors.

The regen aggressiveness and eco modes on certain eletric cars can indeed make a difference depending on how the brake regen is managed and its relation with the braking pedal.
As for the ex30 and the way the braking regen is managed, it would be a gimmick. The regen is linear and equivalent to the brake pedal pressure (until certain point, when max regen is achieved), so brake pedal behaviour can emulate eventual levels of opd intensity.
My point is specific to single pedal driving. Why it there a single pedal mode on the EX30 when it does not work in a linear fashion. It makes it impossible to know when to come off the go pedal to slow down and you always end up using the brake (2 pedal driving). Or am I doing something wrong.... I assumed one pedal would increase regen and may improve range. The mini has a nice power meter that shows you power usage/regen. With practice it is possible to get used to the OPD sensitivity and drive for miles without having to touch the brake. Yesterday I drove 140 miles (none of it on dual-carriageways or motorways - so therefore not exceeding 60mph) and touched the brake only 6 times. During this drive I only used 56% of the SMER battery, which would equate to a real world range of 250 miles on a full charge.JAVMAN wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 10:19 am

I think it works better if you practice reducing foot pressure on the accelerator as opposed to taking your foot completely off the accelerator.

I don’t think there is and I can’t find anything in the manual so suspect not.
On my Mercedes EV you can adjust different driving settings that increases regenerative braking resistance and various other settings so you can increase the range on a long journey.
So just wondered if there were any settings that can maximise range on the EX30?
Many thanks
Translation second link at part "Innovaties en nieuwe features" (=Innovations and new features): The EX30 is equipped with the latest technologies as standard. For example, the model now has the ability for Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), which allows the car to serve as an energy source for other devices. Also new is Plug & Charge available, which makes charging even easier. The new Range Mode ensures that the driving range is optimally used, and Android Auto enables seamless connectivity with smartphones in addition to Apple Carplay. New is metallic paint in the color Sand Dune. The Moss Yellow solid lacquer option has been discontinued.
