I recently purchased an SMA EVcharger (EVC7.4-1AC-1) to charge my Volvo EX30/2024.
The problem I have is that I can't get the car app to charge the car when I have a schedule.
Does anyone else have this problem?

Regards

I’ve seen a lot of options and was thinking the Ohme Home Pro looked the best option. Then I discovered the API is not available on Volvos, which surprised me. Does anyone know if will be available in the future or does the EX30 do this kind of functionality for itself?
My Ohme EPod works with Volvo API in so much as I just set the % I want to charge to in the Ohme App and it does the rest. I’ve never touched the EX in the car settings. The Ohme App deals with the lot. You can check in on the charge % anytime. Stop it, start it, bump charge it, pre condition for the last 15/20/30mins & so forth of the charge= you do need to also set the preconditions in the Volvo App too for temp as well when doing pre condition Ohme just controls the power feed during.

Word of warning it does link via the Volvo App to The car and the Volvo App from time to time kicks me out. When this happens I have to uninstall the car in the Ohme App and reinstall , it literally takes under 5 seconds and defo a 1st world problem, doesn’t happen often but is annoying. When it happens you would know because it shows the car has 0% charge in the Ohme App even if it’s got say 45% that means Volvo App has lost connection to the Ohme App and so reinstall the car. I mention this here because I had to discover this by trial and error the first time it happened to me. BTW your gonna love owning this car I reckon, for me best car I’ve ever owned, absolutely superb, so far 3000 miles and flawless. Not a single issue.

Yes, different charger, same problem.

My EX30's charge scheduler worked when I got the car at 1.2 - but OTA 1.3 broke it. After some back and forward conversation with Volvo help, they stated it was a known issue that should be fixed in a future update.

Since then I have not even tried to use the car's charge scheduler. Keep it switched off in settings and use the charger's scheduling system. All good. No need for Volvo 's anyway. (But it would be nice to know that it would work if needed...)

Volvo UK are currently offering a free Ohme charger, inc installation, with the EX30.

I am probably going to decline it and go for an Anderson. While its more expensive it looks good.

I agree the Anderson charger looks much better than other options. However I've saved the money by simply using a 13A plug-in charger. Works for me.
