alarm goes off for no reason
1.4.2 installed, the car was closed in the family garage, closed since the day before, and suddenly, without further ado, the alarm started ringing at an almost unbearable volume. Fortunately, after a few minutes it stopped ringing. Is anyone else having this new problem?

Sorry to hear that, haven’t had this issue
I have never heard the alarm as mine has never gone off.
However I am really glad that it is really loud. I want it loud enough to scare off any thieves who are interfering with my car when it is parked outside my house - and alert me even if I am in my house watching TV or listening to music. The louder the better.
Is this a new problem? Is it connected to the update, or is it just a random false alarm?
My last car had 2 false alarm activations in 5 years. Nothing to do with any update, just false alarms.
How does anyone know if a random activation after an update is connected to the update or is just a random false alarm. Now if it kept doing it that would be an issue, but just one might just be that - a one off.

Mine also went off twice for no reason days after I collected the car in July. You can select a lower sensitivity but of course in typical Volvo fashion it reverts to high sensitivity the next time the car is used. Nobody takes any notice of car alarms anyway; at best someone might shout out to turn the ***** thing off.

My good lady took the keys out of the car yesterday to open the front door of the house…. Was sat in the car…. It suddenly locked all the doors turned the air con on full and the alarm went off…. It also sent me a text…. Life detection warning?

A few years ago now the alarm went off in my VW at 3 in the morning! Mortified, I went out, switched it off and checked the car as best I could, I also checked the doorbell camera. Nothing. When I went back in the daylight and after much inspection I realised that the National Trust car parking badge had fallen off the windscreen and set the alarm off.
More relevantly, the alarm in my EX30 went off once for no apparent reason. I convinced myself that the seat belt had not fully retracted (maybe it got hung up on the seat) and much later had moved back to the normal retracted position and set off the alarm.

The proximity locking seems to be super convenient and a pita in equal measures. Couple that with an enthusiastic alarm system and it just leads to this sort of fiasco. Maybe the digital ID system update will improve things but for such a core piece of functionality I’m surprised they got it so wrong.
