HUH Another new experiment. Stayed away for a few days. Car was back of premises some way away.
Everytime I went to car it welcomed me.
Parked at front, NO had to pull handle.

Now I am home started using the tin box ide thanks.
I have a faraday pouch obviously does not work.

With the tin box job EVERY time I go to car IT WELCOMES me now??
but not when it has been in my AUTO EXPRESS FARADAY POUCH?!!!

Time to get my money back OH NO it was a freebie for subscribing.
Cheers Andy!

Farraday pouches are fabric. Any small hole will stop it working.

Try testing it. When the car is locked, walj up tp thecar with the fob in the bag. If the bag is good, you should be totally unable to open the car. If it is faulty it might open the car

Here's the explanation from Volvo:
Limitation of the distance-capable EX30 key tag

Updated 15/07/2024

If a distance-capable EX30 key tag is in close proximity to the parked car for a longer period of time, the connection between the key tag and the car will go into standby mode. The reason behind this is to avoid unauthorised access to the car and to preserve battery lifetime.
When the car is in standby mode, the approach and leave function will be turned off. This means that the welcome lights sequence will not be triggered as you approach the car. You also need to pull the driver door handle or push the button on the boot hatch to unlock the car. Sometimes the car may be slower to respond and could take a few seconds to open.

Yes it's easy - and it's a CR2450 - not widely stocked.

Instructions in the manual:

Any small aluminum box can be used to block the remote control signal.
My ex30 at home is 3 meters from the remote control. When I take the remote control out of the box, the car opens completely.
This one cost 1.5€

I'm getting the fob battery warning on my car after two weeks of use. Though admittedly it was an ex-demo and that fob was presumably sat in the dealership for a while which probably hasn't helped. I'm going to swap out the battery once my farraday box arrives to see if that improves things.

It's a shame the fob isn't rechargeable as proximity lock/unlock seems pretty vital in the absence of a good old fashioned clicker.

It doesn't need to be rechargable. The battery should last at least a year or two if it is stored away from the car or in a farraday box.
