i bought the car for the wife, and due to the car having a mind of its own so to speak she is refusing to drive it mainly due to the nature of our down hill driveway that leads straight on to a busy main road. so she does not trust the thing at all..
btw, I've owned several electric vehicles and our garage currently consists of an MG4 a Tesla M3 and currently the EX30LR so im well versed in electric vehicles!

Post 1.4 update the Pilot Assist mode seems enabled by default. But it will actually activate only if you move the shifter downward past D twice. This causes the so called phantom acceleration from about 5 or 6mph all the way to 20mph. Try to ensure that the drive selector is not moved past D downward twice, in short stop at 1 click. If this does not work, then there may be a problem with the car brains.

No, there is a problem with the car, its done it many many times even when you come to a complete stop then when you press the accelerator and take your foot off, it still accelerates. I've been assured by Volvo technician that when the new update is available sometime next month, it will solve my ongoing issues so he said....

Hi, 11,000 miles so far in our EX30 and yes this car is trying to kill us. On reversing out of a parking space and then into forward, the car takes off like a scalded cat at full pelt without any foot on the accerlator. The other thing is it can do this on the road for no reason. I have also found that regen braking must be disabled in snow or icy conditions as this forces a rear end skid. I also have to diable all driver aid on back roads as the car tries to throw us into the fieldsNickyboy71 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2024 10:33 am Hi all,
new to here...
Hi, on many occasions when I first get into the car and engaged drive the car will start accelerating on its own, as well as this I'm encountering when 1 foot pedal driving it disengaged the car still accelerates sporadically. Has anyone else encounted this before?
As well as these two dangerous main issues, I have many many issues to follow if they haven't been covered already..
Stop
Most of this information is included in Volvo's Manual.
Like many other clutch and automatic cars and most (if not all) electric cars, if you don't have the OPD activated, the car accelerates smoothly both in forward and reverse gear. Something very useful when parking and in small urban traffic jams.
Volvo recommends (in all its electric vehicles) disabling the OPD in slippery road situations.
As for lane keeping aids, on narrow roads, or if you are confused by stepping on the road lines, it is more reasonable to deactivate it, because the car does not know if you want to open before a curve to take it better or if you have to avoid a pothole and step on the central line... it senses that you are leaving your lane and tries to avoid it...
It is all quite normal although at first it may take some getting used to.

The lane-keeping system in this car is far too harsh. I sometimes have to fight the wheel to keep it heading where I want, and when it suddenly gives up the fight the steering inevitably twitches the other way. On one occasion it tried to prevent me from joining a motorway at the end of the slip road and I finished up briefly on the hard shoulder. My Tesla is far better mannered.
The accelerator surge is serious, if you are sure that nothing is touching the pedal, and may need the pedal mechanism and electronics to be checked by Volvo.
