Hi everyone,
Took delivery of our extended range Ultra last week, first-time EV owner. Handover made easy by our local Volvo dealer - car beautifully presented and the salesman spent an hour with us explaining how it all works. Loving the car so far but lot's to learn still and pleased to find this forum full of useful information and advice. Struggling a bit with the key system - the fob sometimes works for me and not for my partner, and sometimes the other way around! Waiting for the digital key option to be rolled out, hopefully in the next update? Also Apple car play, yes please!
Cheers,
GaryB

Hi Gary,

Welcome to the weird little world of the Volvo EX30. We have been really impressed with ours so I hope you like your new wheels.
If the key fob (not the card) is failing to detect sometimes it may be that it is staying in range for too long. This usually happens at home and I believe it is a security feature. Try keeping your fob in a faraday box (aka biscuit tin) to see if it is this. The tin will take the key out of range and stop the security standby mode being triggered.

Thanks for the welcome Gloucester and Andrew.
I'll give the tin box trick a go, Andrew, many thanks for the advice.
Cheers

Hello Garry
Also from Sydney. My useof the fob is probably somewhat unusual. I'm a year round swimmer and leave the fob in my beach bag. When i get to the beach, I leave my wallet (with key card) in the boot and take the bag. The car locks as I walk away and unlocks on approach. I then retrieve wallet, lock car with card and head for coffee. The boot seems to provide an effective Farraday Shield.
Love the car, despte frustrations with software vagiaries.
