Thanks for the welcome!
I now have the car, have put a few hundred miles on it and first thoughts......
It’s a nice little motor, ridiculously fast in performance mode (it’s the dual motor). I didn’t realise the paint was pearlescent which is nice and I think it is a nice looking motor (clean). I think it will get dirty quickly.
Some odd things with the software. Not deal breakers but annoying. I like to be able to get a wing mirror to drop on reverse to see the wheels, which is not currently an option. Not a deal breaker but I just miss it. I do usually look out the back to reverse as I am Analogue person - may have to use the cameras more and I may get used to it. (My other car is an old LR Defender so you HAVE to drive that on the mirrors, and all your other cars for the last 10 years have had a dropping minor so I guess I am just used to it. It's probably just as easy to re-programe me as the car

) .
The Google auto full OS it runs has a few issues for me, I am sure I could have dug and found out about them and its fine, but just things I had not noticed (again I am sure they will get updated). You cannot use a Google apps email address with it (which is annoying) and I love Waze and I know that wl be fixed but it's still annoying. My missus has the proximity key so I have a card until the phone as a key update comes. Again minor annoyance in that the card unlock only works on the driver’s door - which is the opposite side to the charge port so it means there is a bit of to and fro if all I want to do is charge. The car also fails to recognise the card on occasion but once phone as a key arrives hopefully it won’t matter.
The pilot assist seems incapable of recognising the speed limit on the M4 motorway (at least for me) that means the cruise control is useless but again that’s after only a couple of long (100 mile) trips on different roads, hopefully its user error. It also seems not to use the current speed as the place to start to set the cruise speed, so if you decide to turn it on for a 50 mph limit and you were at 70 before you cannot adjust the speed down to 50 until it’s activated - which is quite hairy. More learning to do I suspect. Again probably user error and I will take the tome to go through the manual I detail, I am only posting first impressions
I got a FITCAMX for it, and that seems nicely made and a really great idea. Quick (if nerve racking on a brand new car) easy fit.
I have yet to do a proper comparison of performance mode battery drain vs standard.
Google standard maps app seems pretty spot on with the range estimations but again we have only done a few hundred miles so it probably hasn’t worked out driving styles and averages yet.
Rear seats are higher up than the id.3 we had before and the kids like that - but the rear space isn’t as much as I remember and I can feel the kids feet tapping the bottom of my seat - think we will need something bigger next time. I didn’t think the lack of a fold down table/cup holder/through loader on the rear would matter when we test drive it, but the kids miss it so already have got some of those covers with loads of pockets that attach to the back of the front seats so put things in, plus it protects the seats
otherwise it all feels well built and quite premium compared to the other things we tested and I hope the new software updates will add to it. Will update anything of note - good or bad.
