Unwanted Alarm Trigger

I have the digital key installed on my iPhone/Watch. My wife prefers to use the key card even though she has a qualifying iPhone. This suits us both so that only my phone automatically opens the car if we both approach it at the same time.

Recently I parked the car, she stayed in the car whilst I made an errand. Result - of course - the alarm is blazing with increasing intensity and I have a very irate wife! How to avoid this without deactivating the “Presence” warning and switching on “Reduced Alarm Mode” (which have to be consciously set each time)?

If she used her iPhone as a digital key and had the phone on her person, would the alarm still go off in the same circumstances - indeed would the car even lock if she was in the car?

If either of the front doors is not closed properly, the car cannot lock when you leave it. That would probably work OK.

For me it works perfectly with activated “parking comfort” (only 3 clicks), it not only keeps the A/C working but also do not close the car when you go away, also alarm is not active.

If she put her card key on the phone charger it would not lock and set alarm when you leave

Once I left the kidlets in the Tesla while I dashed to my accountants front door to drop off papers on his porch. It was early pandemic and we were keeping distances. Car locked because I took my phone with me. Alarm went off when they moved or opened a door or something.

Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor. VERY LOUDLY. Honking horn. upset kids. Ice cream ensued.
