Had the car since November. Have been using our Zappi home charger throughout (which also charges our Ioniq 5 and charged our previous e-208 without issue for 3+ years and our i3 before then).
However in last 2 weeks I have received a "EX30 charging has failed" notification on my iPhone. The first time I could see the charge had stopped but seemed to re-start by itself and carried on as normal.
But over the weekend, it was more serious, as this time I got a notification but it was "EV now fully charged" but it was only on 61% battery SoC with the charge limit was set to 100%.
It had stopped charging. Even re-setting the Zappi from Off to On again did not cause the car to re-start charging. Only unplugging the car and re-plugging in sorted it.
So this is a new charging error. But has since been ok.
But I am wondering if what has caused this is a rapid change in the solar charge rate. Both days it failed were very bright but very cloudy, and so it meant it was taking on board for example, 1.4kW or sometimes 6kW (we have a large solar array) in quick succession as the sun comes out and goes behind a cloud again.
When it has been charging at a steady state (we have had some gorgeous sunny clear blue days recently) the EX30 has charged without issue. It has always rapid charged normally at public chargers also.
After discussing this issue with my wife, we think we may have had the same issue with our e-208 when we got that car in 2020 when charging. But after speaking to the Peugeot dealer at that time, the car went in for a software update (which improved its rapid charging speed also) and it never did it again.
Will keep a check on it in the meantime. Would dread having to take the car to Volvo, unless the car fails to charge at all, as I suspect it may just need a similar software update perhaps to make it less sensitive to changing charge rates, but looking at the rate we are getting the OTA updates, I do not hold out much hope!. The Zappi continues to charge my Ioniq 5 without issue on similarly sunny but cloudy days like today with large variations in the charge speed. As it did the e-208 and i3 before then.
Charging issue/failure when solar charging
I speak from experience regarding the characteristics of my charger. It doesn't charge below 6A and the charge cuts out. Perhaps if it's around that power, the charger cuts out and starts up repeatedly, and the car protects itself and the amperage limit drops down. Have you checked if the car's charging limit is changed and drops to 6A after these events? In prior software version it happens. It's a bit of a crazy idea, but I can't think of anything else. Don't pay too much attention to me, I'm thinking out loud

I have similar observations on charging as Harald ‘s . I have to use a 3 pin charger with a variable rate of 6A/8A/10A/13AHarald wrote: ↑Wed Mar 12, 2025 11:23 pm I speak from experience regarding the characteristics of my charger. My EX30 won’t start charging on the 6A setting- but it will charge on the higher rates ( My other EV - (Honda e ) will accept charging on the 6A setting!) So I guess the EX30’s charging software won’t allow charging if the Zappi’s output drops below 8A (1500w)?

The car may stop charging below 1.4kW but it should not just stop permanently or state "EV is fully charged". Something is not quite right with it. Solar charged ok yesterday however but this time the APP was stating that it was plugged in but not on charge (Linked cable to the car on the graphic was grey instead of green) although plugged in and the battery % had not changed (on the app). But the car was both charging normally and the battery % increasing as expected. Went from 25% to 40% during the cloudy day yesterday . As with everything with this car, glitchy software.
