So my wife and I just picked up our EX30 from Cambridge and drove it back to Bristol. Car was on 1.5.2, 10 miles on the clock.
HOLY HELL were people not kidding about the software. Pretty sure my wife wants a divorce…..
It’s her main car, but I’ve set me up as the *owner* profile (As I paid for it), and hers as another (not guest)
Setting up the digital key is a royal PITA. Even the dealer didn’t have a clue. I actually managed to get it to work whilst at Reading Services Tesla Superchargers.
I’ve then shared the key from my IPhone 16 wallet to her iPhone 13 wallet.
As mentioned previously, the car doesn’t switch profile based on who walks up to it. Just uses last profile of who drove it last.
Also, iPhone sometimes doesn’t unlock every time. A few tugs on the door handle, or even opening the wallet app required.
I actually question the need….in my case…for the separate profiles? We don’t have electric seats, so realistically what is the different profiles achieving?
We don’t use the goofy Google OS,maps etc. completely Apple CarPlay….which brings me on to….
Yep, as mentioned somewhere on here, you can’t reply to messages in CarPlay. It sort of tries, then chops the response, and loops. Just doesn’t work. THIS is the main thing she is annoyed about. She uses this all the time.
CarPlay sometimes doesn’t launch by default, requiring the use of the hidden “Launch” button.
When driving back on the motorway, we got a message a couple of times “Driver not detected”. We were like WTF!, I’m sat right here!
Needless to say, she really isn’t impressed, but thankfully the car *drives* really well and nicely for her.
This is her first EV, and her first impressions aren’t good. I’m a Software Developer and the whole thing feels like Alpha, not even Beta release.
Anyway, tomorrow is another day, so I’m hoping it’s not going to be another “Why did we buy this car” day.
Sorry for the rant, but just wanted to share my similar issues that others are having with the car.
