And the new sound also triggers at the wrong point. It is not synced with when the hazards flash and the car is secure and armed. It triggers earlier than this. So even if you could hear it, it wouldn't tell you what the old noise told you. I posted this explanation below in another thread but hopefully it explains this issue well:-Denmac wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 2:15 pm Following software update version 1.5.2 have noticed that the vehicle locking noise is very low and cannot be heard as you walk away and so have to recheck if vehicle has locked or note. This was quite loud but at least you new the vehicle had locked. Anyone know if there is a way of making the locking beep louder?
However, I do expect that we will have to wait for Volvo to include this in another software update. and if so, it would be advisable to give the driver options like
Low - Medium - High.
"And on the subject of the lock confirmation it is not just the change of the sound. It also operates at a different time.
Old system. Open boot from inside car. Get out. Lock door by pressing handle. Car locks. Mirrors fold. Walk round back collect laptop bag from the boot. Plug in the charger. Press boot button. Walk away. Boot closes and then the high pitched sound triggers at the same time as the hazard flashes. So I know that the car is fully secure and armed on the sound.
New system. Open boot from inside car. Get out. Lock door by pressing handle. Car locks. Mirrors fold. Stupid noise from the horn triggers. Walk round back collect laptop bag from the boot. Plug in the charger. Press boot button. Walk away. Boot closes and then I stand and wait at a distance for the hazards to flash so I know that the car is fully secure and armed.
So the new sound is not just virtually inaudible. It also tells you nothing. It simply does not tell you that the car is secure."
