I used the Volvo Cars Intl website to give them my feedback which was appreciated and would be sent on to the right department. It was advised to use the EX30 app for this purpose as they made it easy to do so under Contact (balloon icon) > feedback. However you will not get an individual response (which is understandable). For those who did not know this and have plans for feedback.
I gave Volvo the following suggestions to improve User Interface and User Experience:
- for better readability increase height of status bar (between top and middle part of display) so bigger fonts can be used or if not possible use bold fonts;
- make better use of the context sensitive bar (above bottom row in display) or make 2 separate bars, one while driving one when not.
In this manner they could make readily available buttons to switch off or on certain features while driving while they can still comply to EU regulations imho.
I would like to see the following buttons:
- toggle between speed-limiter (city use) and pilot assist (freeway) or separate buttons;
- toggle between distance when following with pilot assist;
- toggle on/off lane keeping aid probably with confirmation on steering-wheel;
- toggle on/off One pedal drive;
- rear fog light
I know speed warning is missing (under custom button), driver alert (it does not bother me that much) and performance mode (single motor).
Others issues are quirks that I could get used to or not yet fully developed features that will improve in time (I hope).
Just mine 2p. Could it help if you would join me with your own suggestions?

That’s all fair comment. Good point about feeding back via the app. I will give that a go.

Yes, all very sensible.

No doubt we would all like different things but there are probably a few that most of us could agree with.
The battery SOC, range, time and outside temperature should be much easier to read, bigger and/or bolder font required. If necessary, remove the graphic of the car to free up space – what is that graphic for anyway, we can just look out the windscreen to see if there is a car in front.
I don’t want the useless home page with random settings that you can’t use and duplicate buttons that are in the normal screen – glove box and bootlid. And ambience lighting – what a waste of space
I’d like to use the customisable button on the steering wheel to toggle between the normal screen and a quick controls screen, it doesn’t need an arial view of the car, it just needs simple buttons/toggles to:
Turn off the lane keeping and lane change assist, with or without confirmation on the steering-wheel OK button.
Turn on the rear fog lights.
Turn on four-wheel drive.
Turn off the speed warning, unless it can be made to work accurately – and I doubt if that is possible.

I’ve sent them a few emails and to be fair they respond but with nothing really to add apart from ‘coming soon to an EX30 near you’. Which would be ok if these were Tesla style OTA updates adding some Christmas cheer or new functionality. All I want however for Christmas is for my EX30 ultra to have the features it was sold on nearly 12 months ago (delivered in July).
Here’s something that might make Volvo wake up……
Not as quick, but better range, arguably better build quality and much better tech integration from day 1 (just tried it tonight)!

Nice ideas HeNo.
"make better use of the context sensitive bar (above bottom row in display) or make 2 separate bars, one while driving one when not"
What about a second bar that is completely user profile configurable? It would need to be large enough to actually press buttons whilst driving but 7 or 8 customisable buttons would probably do it.

@jules yep that is how I would do it so everybody can have their own preferences. I am not a techie but I would think that would not be so hard to do for the sw developers.
@all thank you and I hope you and many others use the app to give your feedback and make the car better.

It would be ideal to be able to customise the screen but I doubt if Volvo would permit it as every car would be different and updates would be a nightmare. And they’re bad enough now.
I think a new screen, toggled from the customisable steering wheel pad, with 6 or 8 easy to see and easy to use buttons could cover most peoples needs, reverting to the existing screen again from the steering wheel. And if you didn’t want to use it all the original
The quick access screen is sort of there except it has a huge graphic that doesn’t need to be there, several buttons that are duplicated on the main screen and it leads you onto yet more screens to scroll through, all too complicated in my opinion. And when you watch drivers testing the car on You Tube and the amount of time they spend with their eyes off the road it’s dangerous.
My twin motor has all the features but they are too difficult to get at while driving.
