Ups, another update, exactly one month after 1.4.2.
1.4.2 didn't even appear available in my car for installation, well at this point I won't even install it, I'll have to wait another 3 weeks to be able to update with 1.4.3. ...
Update 1.4.3 released
I think of the guy who spends €100,000 on an EX90 and has to deal with this apprentice software. I find it hard to believe that they don't have the option to use Android Auto, Digital key or this series of rookie failures.

I have been working as a software engineer for almost 20 years, and I can tell you without hesitation that every product has bugs and constantly needs improvements. The main problem, especially with technology advancing so quickly in the automotive industry, is ensuring that these bugs, like in the EX30, do not threaten your life or leave you stranded on the side of the road. There are many things I don’t like, but I can deal with them. When I bought the car, I knew I was getting a computer on wheels. So far, I’ve found the overall software to be quite good and haven’t encountered any life-threatening issues related to it
They always just say 'bug fixes'. They never say what bugs.
Are they scared to show how many bugs they have had to fix? Or scared to show how few they have managed to fix?
When we ordered the car my wife and I knew as new software product it would come with bugs, and debated about should we wait a year to most we're fixed.
We decided not to. We were right about the bugs. But we also are glad that we went ahead and did not wait.
And it is good to see Volvo making steady, if slow and erratic, progress to sorting them out.

We also took the same sort of view. With such a new car with so many new features there was going to be some development during ownership. As a driving experience we find it very rewarding and that for us is the main thing. Our first ev so that side of things is all new too and that has been mostly plain sailing.
Personally I find the development of many of the features interesting even if I find I don’t either need or like them. All part of moving the technology forward. I have spoken to a couple of long term Tesla owners and they have had (and enjoy) a similar experience.

Still haven’t had 1.4.2 yet, so at this rate will be waiting until November for CarPlay!
I wouldn’t bother spending £90k on a EX90.
My £76k EV9 GT line S has more than you’ll ever need. Including some features found as standard on £20k cars like auto reversing mirrors, wireless CarPlay and digital phone keys!

Does make you wonder why Volvo seem to be struggling with what appears to be well established software packages. Things like auto dipping mirrors can probably put down to value engineering but they do seem to be finding it a challenge to deliver core features.
