Hi All,

I have had my car since June and am still on v1.3.1 it came delivered with. Like others, my very long awaited update to 1.4.2 failed at 90% and I am still waiting.
I have had a questionnaire from Volvo sent to me about the car which I intend to complete, and have already completed an online quick survey (they now want to speak to me about my response).

The thing is, I'm getting a bit fed up with it all, as I'm sure everyone is. In fact, I am seriously considering making a more formal kind of complaint. Mechanically the car is really good in my opinion, but the software issues are unacceptable to the point of being "not as described". This is my first Volvo experience and very likely my last.

In thinking about what the content of my complaint would be, it occurred to me that there are so many things wrong, I have completely lost count of everything and it would take a significant effort to list everything that is wrong. which brings me to my question:

Does anyone have a list of all the faults? Is there anyway it could be maintained on this website?

It will be quite challenging to differentiate between what can be described as a defect and what is simply a personal preference. When we took the car Volvo made it clear to us that CarPlay was in the post and supplied a fob in lieu of the digital ID system. Although feeling a bit short changed I think it would be churlish of me to complain about that now. Especially since Volvo have successfully installed CarPlay now (not for all I know). Things like there not being a hud or the car being obsessed about locking itself are ‘features’ really. I may not like them but they were there when I chose the car. I do give Volvo feedback on my own personal user experience. Hopefully they take this on board with everyone else’s which shapes further product development. One of the great things about ota updates is that we may see some of those improvements come through to our cars and not just to future models.

I think you should take into consideration different aspects of this subject.

IMHO there are:
- true faults, which indeed are not many, for ex. driving wheel heating by itself, driver seat position not automatically adjusting after unlocking, DAB radio muting when braking
- unreliable behaviours, which are many more, for ex. speed limit adaptation, remote unlock/lock using the key tag
- missing functionalities, which are many, for ex. ridicolous voice commands availability for a no-button car, wing mirror not auto adjusting when reversing
- improvements, which are many, many, many..., for ex. a more friendly user interface, a key tag with buttons, auto music stopping on driver door opening, using your own navigation app on the main screen, play your music files from a USB dongle, and whoever has more, put more...

Moreover there are some limitations by design, for ex. not being able to unlock the car touching any door handle and not only the driver's one, NFC sensor only available in the driver door pillar, missing Android Auto. In these case unfortunately there are nothing to possibly improve...

that's an option that's enabled by default. open fan settings and in the top right corner there's a options icon (cog). press that and disable auto enable steering wheel heating or whatever it's called.

"the driver's seat position not adjusting automatically after unlocking" That makes it right, you need to delete your profile, set all your preferences and save everything back to your profile. When you open the car everything (except interior mirror) will be positioned according to your preferences

I do not have checked (yet) about the option (cog) to disable the auto enable steering wheel heating.

But: I have the impression this came with 1.4.2, as I never had in in the previous 6 months I have this EX30. And, I also have the impression it's depending on the outside temperature. As this behavior is not all the time. Yesterday when it was very cold outside (less then 10 degrees Celsius), it was switched on when starting the car. But this morning it was about 15° C, and it was not enabled. Has anybody the same experience?

Re the heated steering wheel.

It is true that I have noticed it more recently. But, is that a result of 1.4 2 software being introduced, or is it a result of cooler weather coming along as we move into a European autumn with cooler temperatures?

It's the result of cold weather. The came came with that feature on by default at least since 1.2 or something like that. I've seen posts about this back in spring 2024 while reading various facebook groups about the car.

Hi All,

@kildare, very good suggestion to categorise.

I'm thinking we should we list everything reported on the forum, even those that are now resolved, as this would provide a good reference for everyone. What do you think? A big job I know, but given time, I don't mind scouring the forum to capture everything. We can also provide links to the relevant discussion for each item.

Admin @Rob, do you know if we could pin the list as an index somewhere? Or maybe you have an alternative idea / different view?

For now, just from this thread so far, this is the list (no links yet):

Faults
• Driver seat not adjusting when unlocking
• Mirrors not adjusting when unlocking
• DAB radio muting when braking

Unreliable Bahaviour
• Speed limit adaptation
• Remote unlock / lock using key tag
• Unnecessary emergency braking
• Steering wheel heating auto-switch on

Missing Functions
• Low availability of voice commands
• Wing mirror not adjusting when reversing

Desired Improvements
• Comprehensive release notes for every software version
• User Interface
• Key tag with buttons
• Stop music when drivers door opened / key removed
• Using own navigation app on main screen
• Play music from USB dongle
• Unlock car by touching any door handle
• NFC sensor on both sides / boot
• Android Auto

Correct: I noticed there is a setting. By default it is set to "on" (warming when the temperature is below 10 degrees C. I have switched it off :)
