Hello,

My intention of this topic is to discuss the experiences about the Apps at Google play that you can currently use in Ex30 AAOS. I hope other Ex30 fans can join and know about those apps:

These are the apps I currently use:
Amazon Prime: Can't use my account in LTE/5G because the VPN that Ex30 connectivity use, I'm from Mexico and my Ip says is from Miami. The only way I can use it if I connect my Ex30 to my phone via Wifi.
Chrome (beta): Good, I can navigate and visit all sites normally, if I want to visit my video streaming accounts I need to connect to my phone via Wifi, otherwise the VPN blocked me to watch videos.
Max: Can't use my account in LTE/5G because the VPN that Ex30 connectivity use, I'm from Mexico and my Ip says is from Miami. The only way I can use it if I connect my Ex30 to my phone via Wifi.
PlugShare: Very useful, now I know where are the charger stations near me and how many chargers and types are available.
Pluto TV: Ok, no problem with the VPN, It just like the regular Pluto TV app, I can watch series, movies while I'm waiting in my car.
Youtube: Good one, I have YT Premium so no ads. The only thing is that it stops while I'm driving, I get it, no video while I'm driving but at least the sound has to play but no.
Youtube Music: Ok, I have YT Premium so I also have this app for music. The UX is not quite good, lacks of options about artists or shuffling like Apple Music or Spotify have. But its ok.
Vivaldi: I use this like an alternative of Chrome, I think this one have more functions that I might use but I need to explore it more.

I would like Apple Music, Netflix, Disney+, because normally I use them in my phone or home. But currently there aren't those apps in AAOS in my Google Play store.

How about yours? what other apps you use and you experience with them? any games, news. navigation or other one you recommend?

I put fireplace in yesterday just for the looks. No other use for it. It offers a good ambience, it shows an animation with sound of a log fire burning. Too bad it can't be used while driving. I don't see what the problem is, you are not interacting with it in any way other than switching it on.
Another one was Chrome beta. Works well but it forces you to set a pin to unlock your screen if you want to sync your account. I have Electroverse as well but it is too buggy to be of any use.

Likely Netflix and Disney+ (and some other streaming apps) will never be officially supported on Android Automotive, as these apps aren't yet supported even in Android Auto after many years.

Another app I think would be great is a "screen mirroring" app where I can see my phone screen at the display. Lonelyscreen, Wondershare mirrorGo, Web Video Cast or iWebTv, Airplay!

Miracast is often used for screen mirroring, I have this one on my RAV4.
But for Volvo (and others) all apps or functionalities that would allow for watching videos while driving wont be provided or enabled.

I just tried to use Electroverse in the car for the first time and was coming to the forum to find out if anyone has had the same issue as me (I will search after posting this) but I thought I would add it here since you bring this interesting topic up Joel.

Basically, the Electroverse phone app lets you plot your routes, including start and end battery %, showing where to charge, how long for, and total journey time. Excellent (although I am yet to use it in vengeance).

The in car Electroverse app allows you to search for charge points. That's it. No ability to plot a route like in the phone app. I did try to input our destination (6.5 hours away) but had to select a charge point there, after which iT started a realtime simulation of our route to that charge point. Whaaat??!!! I pressed the "Stop" button but couldn't get it to go back to my current location.
I then looked it up on their website, not believing this was correct and thinking I must have done something wrong. But no, there it was in black and white: searching for charging stations only.
I guess there must be some coding challenge otherwise they surely would have done it but for me, this is 110% useless in my view as I can find charging points using Google Maps.

The thing is, as the EX30 STILL doesn't have Apply CarPlay, I have to use my phone to navigate. This is INSANELY ridiculous.

I am stuck still on v1.3.1 and getting more and more disillusioned.

It looks like Google wants your data and to get these data you have to use only its own apps like Maps.
Any other competitive app will be limited in functionality or not allowed at all. Even Waze on AAOS has limitations compared to the smartphone app.
Currently if using Android Automotive you unfortunately can't avoid sharing your data with Google.
Tesla conversely didn't want the Google's burden and chose it's own way.

But recently some EU authorities are already investigating on AAOS and Maps:

installed the Waze app. It doesn't work. Is your Waze navigation working?

All large companies collect data on a massive scale. Apple is included in all of them. Another thing is the more restrictive policy with third-party cookies, etc., but companies like Google, Apple or MS collect tons of data, whether we like it or not. If we read the 4,000 pages of the contract we sign when installing an OS, it details everything they collect, and it's not a small amount.
It's another thing if you decide not to share data with a particular company and you are forced to do so because you use a Tesla (data for Tesla), an A. Automotive (data for Google) or an app, e.g. Waze (data for Google) or an AI (data at your discretion if you don't pay a subscription). I can understand that if you are already giving your data to Apple, you would prefer not to give it to Google as well.

Believing in privacy today is absolutely naive.
