I´ve had my ultra twin for 1,5 months now. I have done couple of longer trips. Here are my feelings about car:
- 1.4. update gave short cut buttons to disable both driver alert and speed limit warning. I dont like that these have to be disabled every time you shift to drive. There should at least be option for the programmable button that disables these both with one tap.
- Handling and driving and power is great. Nice to harrash some bmw drivers when "launching" from green lights.
- In longer trips I would appreciate seat extension (leg support)
- charging, consumption and range is ok. I normally let it charge from home plug over night.
Overall happy with car. Knowing that EX30 is widely sold, I am confident that software will develop further and after a year will be great. In longer trips I miss my Mercedes E-series though...
A review after ten days
I bought a Volvo, well, Geely really, but I didn’t buy a Google. If Volvo decided to install something from Google, and it doesn’t work correctly Volvo should fix it. Or at least delete the bit that doesn’t work. The speed limit indication is so inaccurate to be useless and I understand why so many test drivers and owners turn it off. Because Google maps in the car is as bad as Google maps on some other device doesn’t make it right.
My driving experience is being spoiled by the car shaking the steering and applying the brakes and sooner or later it is going to cause an accident when I’m rearended or worse, wipe out a cyclist. What do I have to disable to stop it happening? I like being in control of the car, I don’t like the car trying to control me, badly.

I’m not finding the inaccurate speed sign recognition too much of a pain although it is strange why it is happening as the tech has been around for a while.
I don’t like the pilot lane assist much on the motorway as it nudges the steering on a curve and un-settles the car. I just don’t use that mode. The active cruise control seems good although the brakes are applied a little harshly for me.
The regular lane keeping is ok but I would like to be able to switch it off easily when on country roads.
I have found that the speed warnings are changing the way I drive especially around town. I’m not a habitual speeder but I must have been driving around just over 30 in town. The audio warning is making me instinctively slow down a little bit so I’m at 30 or under. For me this is a good thing as speed has major influence on the severity of injuries for pedestrians in particular.

Here in France the town name sign is where the (50kph) speed limit begins and ends, unless there is an additional sign with a higher or lower limit. I thought the EX30 simply used the Google maps data but if it has eyes, it might need a visit to Specsavers.
Leaving my house my house I’m immediately on a country road with the normal limit of 80kph, the car shows this but then after 200 metres or so it suddenly says the limit is 50kph, then back up to 80kph after a while. The nearest village has a 30kph limit with signs indicating this but the car shows a 50kph limit. This random and often incorrect speed limit indication is common, sometimes too high, sometimes too low.
