I prefer to plan routes on Google Maps on my PC - it's much easier than trying to sort it on a tiny phone screen.
However, there's then no way to send those routes to the EX30. I only have a "Send directions to your phone" option.
If I actuate that, I can then open Google Maps on my phone and immediately hit the "Send to car" button without having to do anything else.
Has anyone found a method to send directly from PC to EX30?

I've found the same thing, create route on PC then send to phone. Use phone to 'send to car' but, as yet, I haven't found the route on the car (if it has even arrived....).
Anyone know where they end up and how to access them?

I have found that when I look up destinations on Google maps on my phone or computer, as I use the same Google account in the car, the destination automatically shows up in the quick select box under the search bar in the car, press that and route is set.

It is not possible to send a Google Maps trip on a PC desktop to the EX30 vehicle directly. However, there are two alternatives that you can use:
1. Send the directions to the phone and then connect the phone to the EX30:
* Open Google Maps on your PC and search for the destination you want to travel to.
* Click "Send Directions" and select "Phone."
*Open Google Maps on your phone and make sure it is connected to the EX30 via Bluetooth or Android Auto.
* Directions will be transferred to your phone and you can follow them on the vehicle's screen.
2. Use the Android Auto app:
* Make sure your PC and EX30 are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
*Open the Android Auto app on your phone.
* Connect your phone to EX30 via USB.
* Open Google Maps on Android Auto and search for the destination you want to travel to.
* Directions will be displayed on the vehicle screen.
Note that:
*Some Google Maps features may not be available on Android Auto.
* Android Auto availability may vary by vehicle model.
I hope this information is useful to you.

Android Auto is not available on the EX30. You cannot 'mirror' an android phone to the EX30. And until Volvo get Apple CarPlay, sorted you cannot 'mirror' an iphone to the car either.
The vehicle software is Android Automotive, which is completely different from Android Auto, despite having a very similar name.
I used Android Auto in my last car, but I cannot in this one.
Also, interestingly, the list of apps that Google allow you to load into a car built with Android Automotive is also smaller than the list of apps that Google allow you to mirror to your car from your phone using Android Auto - if it is installed on your car - which it is not on the EX30.

I've been doing some experiments.
Yes, if you search for a place on Google Maps on the PC and ask for directions, it appears as a destination on the EX30 screen. I tried Derby and that's what showed.
No, if you work out a route on the PC that involves waypoints, then that doesn't get transferred as a route - not even the waypoint separately. I tried Gloucester - Derby - Shrewsbury, and then swapped over to Gloucester - Shrewsbury - Derby. Shrewsbury hasn't appeared at all.

I have invested in a new Tom Tom until Apple Car play is available. I can plan routes using the route planner on the laptop with My Tom Tom and then it synch's with the tom tom device...Something extra on the windscreen, but I much prefer the superior navigation software and ease of interaction.Tom Tom seems to handle more complicated road junctions/ intersections much better than Google maps, in my opinion

We have to see how the future CarPlay implementation will be hosted on the vertical display.
I come from a Volvo vertical Sensus system where the space intended for Android Auto or CarPlay was only half the display surface, and the maps viewable inside that restricted space were even smaller, resulting in an uncomfortable navigation utilization.
