Hello - I took delivery of my EX30 this morning but fell at the first hurdle trying to get it to charge on my existing home box. This was installed in 2018 and, after checking, it still charges my old Renault Zoe up (which I still have as no-one has bought it yet!).

The charger tries to connect and for a split second the indicator light on the Volvo turns green but then the charger cuts out and displays a red triangle. Chargemaster/BP were extremely unhelpful as the charger is out of warranty.

The car was bought from Portsmouth and driven up to Manchester so had a rapid charge on the way up. It had previously charged at the dealer too.

Any ideas? I really pushed my budget to buy this ex demo model so would like to explore all avenues before buying a new charger, especially since the one I have works fine with the Zoe.

Thanks in advance for any advice

Lisa :)

Welcome to this forum.

Others have reports chargers unwilling to charge their EX30.

I don't have a charger so can't directly advise. Let's see what others say.

Check your car's charging settings first and foremost. Make sure it's on maximum charge rate and disable any charge scheduling on the car's software. This should let it at least be dumb charged with the chargers software in control. First step to rule the most obvious issues. I assume that the car is at least on software version 1.4.
Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. It's on the 90% setting and there is no schedule. Still finding my way around the menus etc and just come in from the cold as I didn't want to have the heating on to reserve the charge I have left. On my app it says 1.6.3 but I guess that might not be the same version as the car.

Quick update on my charger. My husband managed to get an online manual and we reset it using the key.

We checked the car with a friend’s charger and managed to charge with the maximum 32 amps. With a bit of trial and error, my charger will charge my EX30 but only if I use the ‘limit’ settings and not go above 26 amps.

It’s supposed to be a 32 amp charger so super annoying but at least I can charge now. Next question is whether it’s worth changing the charger to get one that will charge at 32 amps.

I will suggest to purchase the Wallbox selected by Volvo cars from the official Volvo retailer : "https://www.volvocars.com/mt/shop/addit ... utton=true"

The current from your charger just really determines how long it takes to charge. As most home charging happens overnight this is not usually an issue unless you are time limited by a cheap rate tariff.

The difference between 26 amps and 32 amps is that at 32 amps it will take about 50 minutes to charge up the same amount of range as you would get in 60 minutes at 26 amps.
