Hi All,
I seem to be having an issue with Apple CarPlay. CarPlay does not always “connect” and asks me to check Bluetooth setting…in desperation I have disabled and reconnected my phone, it then goes through and reinitiates CarPlay….it works for a while and then the same issue over again, no connection to CarPlay, but full connection to my phone. I have installed ios18. Anyone else have this issues or know how to fix?

Yes have had the same issue! Do you have to have the WiFi enabled for it to be working?
It seems to specifically want to turn off the wifi and do everything over 4g/5g….ive just come back from the Volvo dealer….the service technician asked for images etc…I sent this to him…who knows if we will get an answer quickly

This happens for me too, I suspect it is related to iOS18. Either way, when the "Go to Bluetooth" button is shown I just press that, then it lists my phone as one of the devices. Tap on the phone's name in the list, and it reconnects. No need to do anything on the phone itself.
I have an iPhone and I have tried Apple CarPlay. I am not convinced that it's worth using it. Google maps, which is superior to Apple Maps, is inbuilt and you can play music etc. through the wireless media facility. Contacts can be downloaded onto the car's system. Using Apple CarPlay disables some of the car's other features. Apple CarPlay also operates through the phone's SIM card and therefore uses your data plan allowance.

I like CarPlay so that I can access Apple Music but that’s about it really.

Mine's been working fine (iOS 18, iPhone 15) via Bluetooth.
When you say "it seems to specifically want to turn off the wifi and do everything over 4g/5g" is "it" the car, or the phone? They both have WiFi and 4G/5G - but neither are how the phone interfaces with the car... CarPlay will connect via Bluetooth or USB-C only.
All CarPlay internet is via the iPhone's Sim, independent of the Car's Cellular connection.

I agree, for me the car already does what CarPlay does and as it uses my phone data, I won’t be using CarPlay.IAH wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2024 11:07 am I have an iPhone and I have tried Apple CarPlay.
