Had the same issue a few weeks ago, LTE symbol but no data connection. Turned out that for some reason the Vodafone account for the car was changed to corporate car. Volvo IT did a reset of the subscription . I needed to re-pair the EX30 app to the car. After that connection was re-established
Today I drove downtown for hours where there's plenty of 5G signal but the car always only showed 'E' (= Edge 2G) and of course no Internet connection (and all the related stuff like traffic info)...
Even rebooted the display but no avail.
First time I have this issue. Updated some days ago to 1.4.

The answer to my phone call was almost immediate, the support person was qualified and promptly recognized my problem without the need of too detailed explanation.
The problem was that the Volvo database had somehow lost/corrupted the registration and/or association of my Volvo ID and my EX30.
The support told me that they need to remove my ID from their database so I can repeat the association between my ID and the EX30, just as when I got the car at the beginning.
After 3 hours I tried to start the EX30 app but after the login this time it asked me to connect the app to my car (by reading the QR code on the display, etc...). This operation completed perfectly in few seconds and now the display shows "LTE" (I have no 5G in the underground garage) and the Internet connection worked again (with a now happy Google assistant...).
The only inconvenience is that I lost all my data in the logbook. And I have to reset all my preferences in the app.
But never mind... all's well that ends well..

Hi everyone,
I just received my new EX30 Dual Motor Plus yesterday and I'm very impressed with the car and the driving experience. However, I'm encountering some issues with the connectivity and setup.
The car came with software version 1.4 pre-installed. Unfortunately, there's no map, no connection, and I cannot set up my EX30 app, as it always says there's no connection.
Here are the details:
The car shows 5 bars of signal but displays "E" instead of a proper network connection.
I drove around town where I know 5G is available, but it still shows "E" and there's no map, music, or other connected features.
At home, I connected the car to my home WiFi. It says it's connected, but there's no internet connection, even though my iPhone and laptop work fine on the same WiFi.
I've even tried resetting the car to factory settings and starting over, but nothing seems to work.
What should my next steps be?

Hi,
Have you set your Volvo Id and app up? I think the car has to be on your wifi and you connect as the owner using the QR code on the screen. That should enable the mobile data connection on the car.

So using the app you need to be able to associate your ID to the car, and to do this you have to complete the on display QRcode scanning by the app.
If the QRcode scanning shows an error and doesn't succeed, then you have to call Volvo or your dealer and ask them to disconnect any associated or corrupted ID from the Volvo database, so to let you redo the association procedure as when the car was delivered the first time (as happened to me).
