That would be sweet alright, I do miss a small un-obtrusive HUD.

The easiest improvement would be replacing the driver alert sensor with a small aftermarket display that offers some information (GPS speed ?) and include the alert sensor too, installed using the same available fittings and connections on the dashboard.
In this way no spare cable addition and dashboard modification should be necessary
